Turtle Wax ICE System

Our very own k757 (Moderator: Keith) was provided some product by Turtle Wax and asked to provide his review of the product here on the site/forum.

I was asked to evaluate these Turtle Wax Ice products and to write a Product Review... good or bad, just be honest.

Foam Away

This is essentially a waterless car wash in a can. Before I started on my Redrock truck, I had serious doubts to this one's effectiveness. So I read the directions and started. I spray it on my rear quarter panel and it comes out like wasp-kill spray then quickly "melts" to a liquid. At this point I used a microfiber towel and wiped the panel. Looked good and was still wet, so I moved to the next section, then the next. By the time I got to the front of the truck, my wiping was leaving residue everywhere. I was like "what the heck?" so I read the cannister again. DOH! I didn't read correctly the first time. I need two towels, a wet one and a drying towel. I follow the real directions, not my perceived directions and everything was excellent after that.

This is an ideal product for just before attending a meet or show when you may not have a car wash facility available. When my cannister gets empty, I will be buying another!

Ice Liquid Clay Bar

This product comes with a 4"x9" sponge. I performed this after I used the Foam Away product. I have never used a traditional Clay bar, so I can't make a comparison between the two.

I was a bit nervous when I started as I didn't know what to expect. So I REALLY read the directions this time. So I start and pour some liquid on the applicator and start rubbing. I wait for it to haze up and then wet (spray it off) the body panel that I just did and use a microfiber towel to dry the panel. Now I've had my truck 18 months now and has (shall I say had) a lot of little marks on the paint that just wouldn't come off during washing. Damn if this Liquid Clay bar didn't clean those right off. I couldn't believe it. I also noticed that the paint was overall deeper in color. I am impressed due to the results as well as the ease of use. When my bottle gets empty, I will be buying another!

Paste Polish

This product comes with a 4"x6" sponge and a microfiber towel. To do it well on bigger vehicles, you need at least two microfiber towels as they get moist/dirty as wipe off.

The paste goes on thick but it does spread a long way. As with traditional waxes, it will haze up. The difference is that Ice Paste Polish will not "white" your plastic pieces and will not leave white residue (powder) everywhere when wiping off the haze. Two huge pluses. The paste came off easily and perfectly at first, but as I got 3/4 around my truck, it was not coming off as evenly as I before. Meaning that I could see a slight streaky color difference on my hood, one of the last panels I did. What also may have contributed to this is that the microfiber towel I was using was getting dirty and also it had just started to sprinkle, so it the air was very humid.

Due to the first 3/4 of the truck's panel's quality, I think the quality is definitely there. I was just implementing in very poor atmospheric conditions at the end.

Car Wash

First off, a little goes a LOOONG way. My first time using this product, I poured a healthy amount in the bottom of my bucket. Well, I was rinsing for quadruple the amount of time I should have to get all of the soap off. This is a good product and due to the amount that is needed for unbelievable bubbles, I would buy this product as a bottle of this will last a very long time.
