2016 Ridgeline "Truck Of The Year"

The Honda Ridgeline was Motor Trends "Truck Of The Year" in 2006. There is a good chance that 10 years later the 2016 could again win that award. As an optomist I feel that the 2 year halt in production means there will be serious changes and upgrades. Maybe there will even be a serious effort to market this truck. On the other hand, who knows, this could be the end. I guess we won't know until production actually starts on the 2016.

only 1 real Ridgeline, thats the 2006 model, product line kind of went in the crapper after that. ;-)

seriously though, im not sure if the boys at Honda are interested in, or could build a truck that could win that award again.

All things considered, I'll be very, very surprised if there is a Ridgeline beyond 2014.

It would have to be "ground breaking new" like the 2006 was! Not going to happen.

I don't think it would take that much. Maybe offer a diesel , hybrid or 8 speed tranny. Something to boost the MPG's.

Six-speed manual, 6 cyl, turbo diesel engine, 30 gal fuel tank for under $30K. Now that would be groundbreaking!

06 RTL, 2011 ROTY billet cubby cover, door sills and license plate frame. Polished Billet Grills, Custom paint, 275/45R/20 Yokohama tires on Rozzi Octane wheels. caliper covers, custom airbag suspension. Re: 2016 Ridgeline "Truck Of The Year"

If they wanted it they could have it. If they offered two versions, one being the 4 door. The other being an extended cab with a 6' box. Level the sides of the bed. That alone would help sell to the American buyer. Same size width and length. Up date the auto trans to a 6 speed and offer a 6 speed manual box. With the new MDX earth dreams 6 and a 6 speed stick you could squeeze some better mpg. The way my trans shifts I think it takes mpg away from what the truck could get.

I agree.

If there is one it would need the perception it is better offroad than our current RL. From all indications the next Gen RL will be less worthy offroad. So I say no to 2016 Ridgeline truck of the year.

Re: 2016 Ridgeline "Truck Of The Year"

Well, it looks like Honda has predicted that the 2013 Ridgeline will depreciate more in 4 years then it did when I bought my 2010. The price difference of an RTS in 2010 compared to 2013 is minimal, however the residuals on a lease are lower after 4 years on the 2013 therefore increasing my payments. Does this mean the Ridge value is going down because they plan to stop making it or when the new gen comes out, nobody will want the old gen anymore?

Re: 2016 Ridgeline "Truck Of The Year"

I'm always perplexed as to why people are always beating up on the RL for not having great fuel mileage. It's almost identical to a Tacoma 6cyl 4x4. Do the Tacoma owners gripe about their mileage? Maybe they do? I'll have to lurk on one of their forums.
