Never said there weren't good parts to Obamacare. There are quite a few things that I think are good in the law. But, seems to me, the person who did this blog just pretty much ignores the CBO numbers and, well, reality. I mean, the guy says Obamacare will SAVE money in later years. OK, when has ANY government program saved money in the long haul. Never. Examples: Medicare and SSA.

He also just kind of shrugs off the cost of this thing. Like $2+ trillion dollars is pocket change. I mean, yeah, we'd all love to be running through a sun-drench meadow, with butterflies flying outta our a-holes, and have free everything. Problem is, this program has to be paid for somehow...and with the US being $16 trillion in the hole already, Obamacare is only going to make matters worse. Not only that, it is going to drive up the cost of everything, just not healthcare, taking even more money out of our pockets...when the average income seems to be dropping every year.

No mention of the CBO numbers that say as many as 20 million, or more, people may lose their private healthcare insurance because of Obamacare. How can any bill, that is supposed to provide HI for everyone, be good if it takes private health insurance away from those who currently have it? I'm sorry, but that is a deal breaker for me.

Also, the federal gov't mandating anything is, at best, a slippery slope. What's next...they are going to be telling us what food to eat, what shows to watch, what cars to buy, where we should be working, what city we live in, etc. We should be enjoying more freedoms in this country, not less.

I've never been much of a fan of "The Donald" but I think his quote about Obamacare pretty much sums it up:

"Let me get this straight . . . ... We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! 'What the hell could possibly go wrong?"

Re: Vote em out!

I wouldn't hang to much of an BS fact like the 16,000 IRS agents. Thats one of the made up statements (by NG in this case) that people want to take as fact. I'm not defending the act but I hate seeing this kind of BS being taken as fact no matter the subject.

Romneycare in Mass arrived via back door politics and seemingly made no effect on anyone with insurance.

Funny how Obamcare is based on Romneycare.

Socialism - any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.

Via the bailouts, the gov't owns car companies, banks, etc...now they will own our healthcare and now they want to get their greedy little fingers on our retirement accounts. Only a matter of time they are owning/running everything.

You only have to look at fairly recent history and you see that the people who populated this country were trying to get away from these very things...governments that were all powerful...where their citizerns had no freedoms and were persecuted religiously and economically. If anybody thinks we are far from that exact same senario here in the US...right now...today...they haven't been paying attention.

Re: Vote em out!

Evidently, that's what a significant number of voters seem to want.

A little long, but interesting. Read what the Russians think about us and the recent election.

Re: Vote em out!

I find this thread very entertaining. There are a few who post points of discussion (articles and some from mainstream sources) and a few who believe that all is well. I think the believers would never say that they want socialism but I think they are not seeing their environment change. (Reference the boiling frog anecdote)

Re: Vote em out!

I disagree with this line:
"But to address our debt and deficit problems, we have to raise taxes."

from here:
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily...144852573.html

I believe to address our debt and deficit problems, we have to FIX congress.

But that will require an **electorate** (I meant to say expectorate) weaned off the government teat. Which ain't gonna happen without much pain and suffering... which won't happen until it is forced upon us.
********************

Keith, I am not sure but what some (perhaps mostly the far left) desire a socialistic form of government. I know everyone seems to like "free" stuff.
