Has anyone else entered this and been contacted about winning? I got an email today and pretty excited. Still waiting to see if it is legit. I have a bunch of forms to fill out but all seems like I might have won. Driving the new Ridgeline around a ranch in San Antonio would be cool.
It has been confirmed! I did win. I checked out the new Ridgeline at the Detroit auto show. It will be lots of fun seeing it in action and hopefully getting to drive it in some cool scenarios. I have a 2014 Ridgeline that I love. My wife was laughing that I deserved to win because I talk about Ridgelines more than any normal person should.
I don't really think the RL release date is affected by Camp Ridgeline (CR). Honda won't delay the release of the Gen2 for the sake of making the camp more suspenseful. Rather, it looks like CR is a novel marketing strategy to drum up more interest in the new truck and show off its abilities. If anything, Honda will want dealer lots to be well-stocked with G2 RLs by the time they start using footage from CR to promote the versatility, features and competence of the new truck. I expect to see lots of emphasis on the new Ridgeline being a "real truck" with all the capabilities most people need in a midsize truck, but with more comfort and utility than the competition.
And don't forget that you'll get a $3,000+ 1099 from Honda at the end of the year and you get to pay taxes on the full retail price of that nice trip you got that's not really free at all.
Thanks for ruining my fun Joe! Yes I did consider the fact I will have to pay the stupid taxes.
On an unrelated note I noticed some odd rubbing sound right now on current Ridgeline while driving out of car wash. Like something was rubbing on the tire and clicking against it. Wonder what that will end up costing me...
Just spoke with the owner of my Honda dealer. Sounds like he is sending at least one of his people to the Camp! Don't know if all dealers are sending representatives or not.... but if they are.. there will be quite a few attending.
That gave me a chuckle. I love the smell of breakfast tacos much more than new car smell! If we're lucky, you won't need that "arm measure" because all the specs may be released by the time Camp Ridgeline starts. Maybe by then, the truck will even be on some dealer lots for spy measuring.
Congrats Geocachelinda. You will have to find me at the event and let me know you are geocachelinda from the forum. I will be easy to find. I am the only guy named Cenovio.
I got the itinerary and it wasn't as cool as I hoped. I hoped we would spend Saturday night on the ranch not come back to the city. But oh well. I am sure it will be fun either way.
Congrats to you guys who won. I'm envious and wish I could share in the experience. Please share with us whatever they let you.
Honda, if you are listening, I'm glad you had the contest and I wish you would do a similar thing at the Transportation Research Center test track in Ohio, like the 2008 summer meet, but open it to members to attend at their own expense. You would have more attendees for a lot less expense.
I entered every Monday morning for 10 weeks and NOTHING! Haha! I'm just not a lucky person in general. Nonetheless, congrats to the two winners here. I hope you have a great time and we're all looking forward to a full write-up and pics if Honda allows you to do so. I would have been more than happy to pay the taxes on the retail value of that trip just for the chance to go. Plus, I really love breakfast tacos.
Wow can't believe the tailgate doesn't lock. I don't complain in general about what is or isn't included. I will either buy it or buy something else. But so many people put covers on the bed and would love the tailgate to lock. I wonder how that conversation went? Engineer #1 "We know people will want this to lock, should we do it?" Random Honda Exec "Nah focus on adding a power outlet to the bed and exciters that make the bed a big speaker. If we give them all that then they won't care if the bed locks."
Even though the tailgate action remains the same as G1 the inner workings have been completely reworked. So I would not expect any G1 tailgate locks to work on the G2. But someone may come up with an aftermarket lock.
