A friend at a dealer in San Antonio Texas told me they have some to come look at that will be used for the sweepstakes drive gig at the ranch for all you sweepstakes winners. I'm heading that way in the next hour and will gladly take some pics and measurements for you guys. Anything specific?
I will gladly try my best. I'm delayed a little bit because the wife also wants to come so I'm waiting for her to get off of work with thin the next hour. Tape measure in hand.
You better hurry before the paparazzi arrive. It wouldn't surprise me if Honda calls and demands they move them inside the shop and slam the bay doors!
Yes, thanks for the mention of Jason Pro's photos. Good shots.
I love my Gen 1. And it looks better every day. I know this will be a capable machine, and I hope it does well, but I am having a hard time liking the design.
Well they 16-18 scattered throughout the lot. I took some measurements and was kindly met by someone prepping the trucks for the events. He noticed my hip mounted tape measure and mentioned all the specs have not been release but some of the trucks were for a driving press event and asked me to not post any specs to which I will kindly oblige. He said they should be out in the next few weeks. I saw Burgundy, dark blue ,off white ,silver, dark gray and of course black. All the black editions were black with black wheels. I manhandled the arm rest and was pleasantly supposed by the width, adjustability and sturdiness. The back seat sat me comfy and I am thin and about 6ft tall. The fit and finish looked typical of honda and I was happy to see that. The three I crawled under to measure were all AWD and seemed dirt rod worthy. The truck was easy to get in and out of and I think will make a great truck for my purposes. I will post a few pics when I get home to the desk top.
Taking a cosmetic mental snap shot, the truck is what I would expect as a model evolves from one generation to the next. Not revolutionary, not upsetting the apple cart, not raising the bar so far as to erase its family lineage with the previous generation.
Comparing it to other evolution's like the Tacoma, I appreciate the absence of "edgy" sharp corners and the asinine bulging head/tail light assemblies TOY-O-TER has adopted. PETOOEY on them for that.
On closer inspection, I don't care for the various application of chrome doo-dads at the grill/hood interface, around the side door/glass/entry handles and rear bumper trim. In fact, front end styling has a very similar look to many other OEM's with the swooping upward eye brows integrated into the outer edges of headlight lenses/fenders/hood. Although it shouldn't necessary, changing color and finish of some of those body parts would solve most of those personal concerns.
When the Gen2 hits the market, I'll visit one or several of the local dealerships for a look/feel. Probably opting to let the initial excitement to settle down - giving dealers the time needed to get off their $$$ high horse about the release of a new model while gauging the attitude/sales approach and company culture various dealers instill in their people when the RL hits the sales floor. Having lost my second car - the old daily driver - I need another vehicle to lighten the mileage load on my beloved Gen1 - I'd like a more fuel efficient primary ride but I've come to appreciate the comfort Honda bestowed on the RL.
^^^For my tastes, not a good angle and not an attractive color (YMMV). On this truck, the white one behind it and the silver one in the Forum header, I'm wondering if blacking out the light gray trim around the foglights and turn signals below the bumper would help. And I think the grill below the double chrome bar could definitely be stronger-looking.
I was one of those that thought the truck looked OK at first. But the more photos I see, the less I like it. Maybe it gives a different impression in person. I'm sure it is still a capable platform. Unfortunately I am visioning my days as a Honda owner are coming to a close. It's too bad because I've owned at least one, if not two Hondas at a time, since 1981. We will see what they do next with (to) the Odyssey.

Same here, started with the '81 Accord 4 door. 35 years and 18 Hondas later I am wondering what is happening with Honda. Beginning to get pissed off that my 2013 RL is quarantined in my garage and the rental Frontier is blocking my driveway. Been a 2 Honda family since 2005 with the 1st of 3 RLs. If Honda does not get their heads out of their rear ends very soon the long time relationship is going to be history.
^^^ Good golly. I never thought I would say this having owned three G1s, but the G2 is NOT a good looking vehicle to me. It looks like it has an identity crisis and can't decide whether it's an SUV, a minivan, or pickup. It's too masculine for the ladies yet too feminine for the gentlemen. I think it looks dated even before it goes on sale. The terms bland, elderly, and confused come to mind as well.
Black Edition badging is removed.. wonder what models are there, with the exception of the black edition did the rest of the models have those hideous white, I mean "tan" seats?
I sense an optical illusion looking at the top of the bed sides. From the front, they sometimes appear to slope like Gen 1, though at a less angle. It does not look flattering. But from the rear angles, there does not appear to be a slope.
There is a photo with a white one in the background that illustrates my thoughts
It would seem that the only color that looks good is Black cause the rest of the colors just seem so out of place (of course this is my personal opinion, but I would think that it's the designer's opinion as well, otherwise we'd have the super white edition or the blazing fire edition).
So no word on pricing at the moment, but I would have to saying starting somewhere in the 34k range for starters cause Honda is always over excessive on pricing. Thus in a couple months I'll be sitting at the Honda dealership trying to justify spending 40k on the Ridgeline Black Edition and come to the same conclusion I have been for years now, that it's just not worth it. Thanks Honda, thanks....
