The Gen 2 torque peak is somewhere between 4500 and 5000 rpm so the tranny did a great job of keeping it in the sweet spot.

I thought the truck did an OUTSTANDING job, the comments by the haters on the youtube page are just comical. The truck was composed, handled well, got great gas mileage, had plenty of power to accelerate at any time in the climb, managed the trailer weight without extreme squat or squirrely issues ---- other than limited engine braking going downhill, you couldn't ask for a better performance.

That test made Honda look really good, and it didn't cost them a red cent.
Good point on making Honda look good...Honda really owes Robert - and TFL - a big 'thank you'. If a buyer was on the fence about the G2 because they have a 4,000 lb boat or trailer to tow...they won't be after this video...I was not really surprised but I was still impressed. I towed my 5,000 lb Glastron boat with my G1 thousands of miles with complete confidence and no issues, so I knew the G2 would be at least as good. However, the towing most people do on a regular basis in no way compares to the Ike...

This shows that anyone towing a load this size in even mildly hilly terrain will have zero issues. The mpg was very impressive although in normal terrain towing, the numbers between midsizers will compress somewhat. It does show the Honda Earth Dreams 3.5 DI is very efficient at high rpms, however.

Think of the 'value' of this video to Honda vs the multimillion dollar Super Bowl and Olympics commercials.

They should give Robert a FREE G2 RTL-E or BE (and then he can give me his!)

yep, hard to believe people are that dumb and actually admit it and bragg about it in a public forum.

Yep, again! I think honda should be calling him up and offering some sort of perk for the sacrifice of his truck!

I call BS that they tried D4 downhill - I took a load of firewood to a friends house yesterday and I was probably maxing or over my utility trailers 2000lb limit. On the back roads on several steep hills there was significantly more engine braking in D4. When left in D there was virtually none because the truck stayed in 6th unless I was on the brakes.

I'd agree that D4 probably didn't make a difference going UP the hill, since it sounded like they were in 3rd most of the way.

Something to also consider is that this location is about 10,000 ft. above sea level, and the air is quite thin. Grabbing the first formula I found with Google, this amounts to about a 40% power loss.

Got my "Ike Gaunlet" T-shirt in the mail today. Thanks, TFL.
