Here is an interesting tidbit for Nav equiped trucks:

This screen is used to graphically display the sun's position as determined by GPS. the Navi uses the sun's angle, along with the sunlight sensor to control the driver/passenger A/C air flow. The heat that must be removed by the A/C unit varies, depending on the angle of the sun entering the vehicle.

You would think that marketing would talk about this "cool" feature

One of the features I have come to really appreciate on the Ridgeline are the "big" handles on the front doors. Some of the reviewers I read before I bought my Ridgeline even suggested these large handle looked goofy!!!

Well, ESCUUUSE MEEE!! I have found these handles to be exactly what is needed in an area with gusts of wind up to 90 miles per hour - which is what we have been experiencing here these last few days.

Anyone that has had the wind smack the truck door into your back or worse, into your pumpkin head will appreciate the practical value of having something that you can easily grab onto and easily hold to prevent severe physical trauma when the wind is conspiring to pound you senseless.

Thank goodness the Honda engineers realized the weather would become increasingly erratic due to _________ (fill in the blank).

While I agree about the functionality of the big handles, I think Honda should do something to make them a little less obvious. BTW- has anybody seen the big handles that come with the brand new RAV4- very similar!

I agree. While the wind isn't as big of an issue here in the burgh, parking on steep slopes is common. Those big handles make it a breeze to control the door swing in this situation, even while wearing gloves!

Not to mention, I always use it when taking sharp turns! I grab it every time I make a fast left! LOL

In the thread about the RL that caught on fire, you can see the steel skeleton of these pulls. Very substantial looking.

The wind issue brings up another feature I like about the Ridgeline which is the wide wheel base and the high rollover resistance. Usually people roll their vehicles by turning too sharply but it was so windy near here yesterday that a camper, two semitrailers and a flatbed trailer were blown over!!!

From the Montana Billing's Gazette:
A six-mile section of Interstate 90 had been closed yesterday after winds blew over a camper being pulled by a pickup, two semitrailers and a flatbed trailer being hauled by a pickup. The wind gusts were reported at more than 80 mph.

The closed highway was reopened this morning, but southwest winds of 40 to 55 mph, along with gusts of as much as 75 mph, were predicted for the area this morning.
