Honda Lowers Ridgeline HP !!??

Full back page ad in USA Today weekend edition (29-31 July) listed Ridgeline HP at 247 !!!
Is that the 87 octane hp rating !? and 255 hp is with 93 octane ??

Don't shoot me. I'm only the messenger.

Re: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Specifications

AS far as I know, it is rated at 255 horse power on Regular grade gasoline. The ad in the paper is most likely a mistake.

It's not a mistake. The SAE horsepower testing procedure has changed. Based on the new testing procedure, the ridgeline has 247hp.

Re: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Specifications

Well apparantly it was finalized end of march.
It's SAE standard J2723. It's voluntary but manufacturers have now started to rate their vehicals using it.

Re: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Specifications

Yes, thanks for the correction. I was unaware of a bew testing procedure that would alter the horsepower rating.

Re: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Specifications

It's actually quite interesting. If you go to vtec.net, you'll see the changes for the new acuras. One of the thing is, that the TSX now has 205 SAE certified HP. Thing is that car probably has closer to 215 of the old hp(up fron 200 old hp). But to the average consumer: "oh it's only up 5 hp". The manufacturers are going to have an interesting time marketing this stuff...

Re: 2006 Honda Ridgeline Specifications

With premium fuel that would be 257 hp.
