Question Tailgate lock in snow country

I am trying to find out if anyone has installed a BasicKoncepts electric tailgate lock and has experienced a winter. Snow gets in pretty mush everthing and I did not think the tailgate was weather proof. Therefore water and ice could cause it problems. Also, where would the key be located if I was to install a manual lock. The instruction book I reviewed seems to only talk about the electric version. Lastly, does anyone have the BasicKoncepts Telephone #? I could not find it anywhere.

Re: Tailgate lock in snow country

If you installed a manual lock the keyhole is in the center of the recessed handle hole. A little inconvenient if you have a lot of keys on your ring but is doable.

Re: Tailgate lock in snow country

I don't. We get snow that sticks about once every winter. After having the tailgate apart I don't think there is much chance of snow or water getting in there directly, though. Manual lock cylinders are always susceptible to freezing however.

Re: Tailgate lock in snow country

Anyone got pictures of what the rear handle assembly looks like with the key hole lock?
