For that matter the current Pilot looks an awful lot like a Toyota Highlander, especially from the back.

Personally, I like the looks of this Pilot prototype. I'm not crazy about the grille, but then i don't like the RT/RTS/RTL grille particularly & I think the new CR-V nose cone is just plain ugly.

But the squarish back & sides look good to me... For those who say it looks "Chrysler," consider that Honda will probably use the redesign to triple the interior space. They're really good at that!

Hard to say from the photo, but if the "smiley loop" in the grille is done up in the body color, it might look very interesting. My prediction: flat metallic gray for the 1st year, chrome for the 2nd year, body color for the 3rd year ... and each year, Honda advertisements will tout the "all new look."

There is an accessory grill being listed at one of the online Honda parts websites that says:

So for those not in love with the stock grille, there is still hope!!!

I'm sure that if the RL ends up with this style grille we should have a choice as well...

That's the stock grille on the RTX trim line, BTW.

I know, I have it on my RTL. The point I was trying to make is that Honda will surely have an alternative for those that want a different grill.

I hated the toaster element look of my RTL so I changed the grill!!

We cannot confirm nor deny that there may or may not potentially be something different about that possible 09 test unit or an old prototype sent out to mess with the car sites. However reports indicate that it is in fact an old beater.
