Parking Brake Won’t Release
in Very Cold Weather Do you have a ’06 Ridgeline in your shop with a
parking brake that won’t release first thing in the
morning in very cold weather? A water leak could
be the culprit.
The parking brake cables leave the passenger
compartment in the lowest part of the floor. If
water puddles there, it could leak down into the
parking brake cable housing and freeze,
especially on a cold, frosty night. If that happens,
the cables won’t move and the parking brake
won’t release.
To fix this problem, track down the source of the
water leak and repair it. Then replace both
parking brake cables. For the how-tos, check out

I realise this is an old post, but the last 3 mornings when I pulled out of the drive it felt like parking brake was dragging. Each time it cleared up by the time I got out of my subdivision.
Took it to the dealer this am and he couldn't duplicate the problem.
He did tell me to park it overnight without using the parking brake and see if it felt the same way when I start out the next morning.
He also gave me a copy of the this bulletin.
I feel confident I don't have the leak because I have watched that like a hawk.
But we have had snow on the ground the last few days which I have tracked into the truck. Guess that could be the source of the water.
I won't set the parking brake tonight, will post tomorrow what I find out.
