Little towing nuggets here.

It appears that this device would impede hitch "dropping". In other words the ball height cannot be raised or lowered to match many trailers properly. This is an important stability / clearance issue when towing.

Secondly, extending the hitch ball point out farther from the rear of the vehicle causes greater force to be placed on the rear of the vehicle, effectively increasing the tongue weight.

These things will not adversely effect most RL owners, but they are issues for those who tow significantly to consider.
