Re: Annoying Drivers Door Ding when Key is in Ignition

The Beeper is integrated within the gauge control module and is part of the instrument cluster. It is tied in with all safety indicators so that should any severe problem occur while driving, the beeper will function.

Some of it's many audible functions include seat belt reminder, key in ignition reminder, back window open alert, etc...

Disabling or muffling it requires removal of the gauge control module from the truck's dashboard followed by a bench disassembly or "dissection", as known in layman's terms. The beeper should be found soldered onto the board and resembles a cylindrical horn possessing a piezo speaker with a small aperture from where the sound exits.

To muffle the sound, try using a dab of silicone sealant onto the aperture opening.

MikeT has a sample instrument cluster that he mysteriously obtained from a knowledgeable Honda guru. Perhaps he can take and post a few pictures of the disassembled module for our viewing? Mike?
