I didn't have a problem in Ohio back in 1989.
Many years ago (1989) when I had a Ford Taurus with all tinted side windows, every NJ police that I passed on the Turnpike would pull me over about the windows.

State Window Tinting Laws
I would be more worried about the state you live in as they only allow 25% and lighter and you have 20%. If they allow you, I wouldn't expect any problems in other states.
Now saying that, I have had 20% (or darker) tint on my vehicles and I travel all over the place. Too numerous of times in other states than my license plate state. I've only been "looked at" once and that was in CT, where the officer turned around on the interstate and came up behind me for a few seconds and then pulled over and u-turned and left. States where I've driven with "illegal tint": AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, LA, MA, MD, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV
I have received traffic tickets in NY, CT and LA.... no mention of my illegal tint.
