Re: Headers??
OK. Back to the original topic of......headers. I'm not interested in your personal opinions concerning pollution or what is illegal where you live but would love some educated input concerning this idea.
Theoretically-if a person were to build "headers" without cats, bolt on an intermediate pipe (like the ATLP version), to a high flow aftermarket cat followed by cat-back system, would it screw with the computer?
Would the O2 sensors still work correctly or would they "throw a code" because of the cat deletion?
I am only looking for better performance through higher engine efficiency (you know-air in,air out). As was the case with my Buick Regal GS, some exhaust work and FIPK not only gave me more power but a 10% gain in fuel economy.
As for the engine running dangerously lean-wouldn't the computer make the necessary changes to ensure that wouldn't happen?
It would seem to me that more air in, efficiently; and more air out, more efficiently than the stock set-up would result in a more efficient running engine which would improve mileage. And besides, this "pig" could use 30 more horses under the hood anyway.
