I think I need to read my manual. I've been towing my old boat and new boat (purchased this week, about 4,000 lbs. fully loaded w/ gear and gas, incl. trailer weight) in D3 mostly, even at 60 - 65 mph. I only switch it off if the highway is flat. In short, I use the D3 like the OD off button on other vehicles.
However, I've read in the forums the D3 is really just your basic 3rd gear shift position, nothing more. And not to be used at high speed.
So, should I just let the tranny shift a lot and trust the tranny cooler while towing?
Concensus (yes I know a concensus on any towing issue is asking a lot.)
