I have found these handles to be exactly what is needed in an area with gusts of wind up to 90 miles per hour - which is what we have been experiencing here these last few days.
Anyone that has had the wind smack the truck door into your back or worse, into your pumpkin head will appreciate the practical value of having something that you can easily grab onto and easily hold to prevent severe physical trauma when the wind is conspiring to pound you senseless.

I agree. While the wind isn't as big of an issue here in the burgh, parking on steep slopes is common. Those big handles make it a breeze to control the door swing in this situation, even while wearing gloves!
Not to mention, I always use it when taking sharp turns! I grab it every time I make a fast left! LOL
In the thread about the RL that caught on fire, you can see the steel skeleton of these pulls. Very substantial looking.
