I agree. While the wind isn't as big of an issue here in the burgh, parking on steep slopes is common. Those big handles make it a breeze to control the door swing in this situation, even while wearing gloves!

Not to mention, I always use it when taking sharp turns! I grab it every time I make a fast left! LOL

In the thread about the RL that caught on fire, you can see the steel skeleton of these pulls. Very substantial looking.
