Echoing the earlier posts...fool with the volume controls a bit. I turned my Ridge volume way down, then turned my iPod volume way up and then controlled the volume via my steering wheel volume. Like everything that seems to involve the Ridge - iPod relationship, its a little kloogey. But once you get the settings right, I'm pretty pleased with the sound quality I'm getting via that simple five dollar cable connected to the AUX port. I just wish the port was part of the central array of controls instead of tucked back in the storage area. Wonder why they did that. Honda seems to have a reason for every little design nuance, so I guess there is a reason for that as well.
