The RL automatically starts off in 4WD from a standstill... Switches to AWD and at highway speeds goes into FWD..... It automatically does this for you...

The drive shaft is an integral part of the RL, leave it alone!!!

That's first on my list, then I'll kick it up a notch by removing the rims and tires - I figure that'll be worth 240 lbs in weight savings!

Just ASK - as in Just Amy, Scott and Kyle

Ahhhh or get 4 of those little skinny space saver tires that have the same outer diameter as the stock 17 inch tires? Little skinny tires like the ones on a solar powered vehicle. That ought to help some too.

just ride a rodie bike, it will save you gas, its allot healthier, and eviromentally friendly. Do bring a change of clothes and some deodarant and cologne. Seriously, don't touch that. its like asking do i need spark plugs to run on an all automatic engaging engine and transmission wheel drive system?

I understand the question and I thought I could give you a simple answer but I can't. Just let it alone.

I do not think that even on other 4WD trucks removing a drive shaft would make much difference. You still have the weight of the extra differential and drive axles. And they would still turn unless you have locking hubs.
