Re: Catastrophic fail today

Radiator shop in Portland(Gresham), OR replaced mine a year ago for $275.00 and about an hour and a half wait. Couldn't be happier.

Re: Catastrophic fail today

Again, can a mod pls. put a Sticky on this board detailing the failure, photos of it, what to tell the dealer if you are concerned about it, and acceptable replacement radiators?

Re: Catastrophic fail today

If you want to put a combination of posts together that detail the issue and include photos, etc., I'll be happy to stickie it.

You might search a Pilot, MDX or Odyssey forum... or other manufacturer that uses the same design. We've had an MDX owner post here about the same issue.

I show the 2009-2013 radiator part number is 19010-RN0-A52 and the 2006-2008 is 19010-RJE-A52
I don't know what, if anything is different for those though.

Honda may have sourced the 09+ radiators from a different place, but the design and material use is the same from what I've seen. That would explain the different part number. I would be very interested to see pics of someone who owns an 09+ model and lives in a place where road salt and other chemicals are used. I would bet the corrosion is already bad enough to consider a rad replacement.

Re: Catastrophic fail today

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Good to know we all should be concerned.

Trevor, have your shop guys seen many failures of these fittings on RLs, Pilots, Odysseys, etc? Do all Honda products use the same/similar design?

Re: Catastrophic fail today

I think a member with a 2010, went underneath with a magnet and confirmed the washer is magnetized, that means it will stain, maybe it is galvanized or treated to slow the process, one fact is, it did stick to the magnet.

Re: Catastrophic fail today

FWIW, my mechanic has replaced the radiator on an '09 with 75,000 miles and confirmed that it did show some signs of corrosion around the same areas frequently reported with the previous model years.

Re: Catastrophic fail today

There you go, same thing to worry with newer models keep an eye on it, or If it was me, just spray paint it with special paint or dip your finger in naval grease and put a big ball of grease on it and redo it every 6 months.
