Remeber those tail light guards I installed?

For those of you who hadn't seen my previous post, I installed a set of Aries tail light guards. These are the metal cage looking jobs that go over your tail lights. Here is a picture of the installed guards.

Anyhow, I had a heck of a time installing them due to them not being welded exactly correctly so long story short, I had to bend the mounting tabs multiple times to get them straight. They were hard to bend due to the thickness of the metal. I also had to refinish them due to the crappy powdercoating job that Aries did on them.

Well, a couple of nights ago I bought a pretty sizeable snow blower from a friend who was moving to Phoenix. I was loading it with my ramps which are somewhat awkward being 6 ft long and not foldable and made of metal. The friend made a comment to hurry up and look at something as I was moving the ramp. I whipped around not thinking and slammed the loading ramp into the drivers side tail light of my RL. The tail light guard took the full force of the blow from the ramp and didn't even dent. If the tail light guard hadn't been there, I would have destroyed the tail light and bent the metal surrounding it for sure. Despite all of the problems I had with mounting and finish with the tail light guards, they paid for themselves instantly. Just goes to show you that they do what they are supposed to do and were worth all of the hassle I had installing them.

Cool. Glad to hear that they worked out for you. I was initially put off of the product by your first post. Maybe now I should reconsider?

Thes were taken on my cell phone so the quality isn't that great but they give you the general idea.
