Re: GE Nighthawk replacement bulbs, and fog light question

What bulbs from the UK did you get. Have you installed them? How well do they work?

Philips Vision Plus Extreme Power H4

I really like them. I've had them for about two years now. If you advanced search through the bulbs threads for shovelhd you will find a picture of the OEM bulb in one side and one of these in the other.

What I don't know is how close these bulbs are to their American "equivalents". Corporate consolidation may have created equivalent products with different manufacturers and product names in different countries.

I've always used European lighting in my sports cars.

I personally think that more have stated that the Slyvanias are prone to burnout...

That may be, but it still sounds like the aftermarket bulbs don't last anywhere near as long as what comes on the vehicle.

Re: GE Nighthawk replacement bulbs, and fog light question

Just had my 3rd ge nighthawk blow. Each time it has been on an all day drive. I use the lights day and night. But would expect them to be able to take 10 straight hours of use.

This certainly seems to be the exception from what I gather from other threads....doesn't seem normal to me...

The OEM bulbs do seem to always outlast the aftermarket bulbs. In my VW Jetta, the OEM bulbs lasted two years and eack low beam went out within two weeks of each other. The standard off the shelf replacement bulbs seemed to only last about 8 months to a year. In my Jetta's case, the low beams went out and not the high beams (Makes sense as the low beams get the most burn time).

In my Ridgeline, the OEM bulbs were in for about four months. I switched to the GE Nighthawks and the first low beam burned out in 8 months or so. I have had the second set in now for just over a year and counting. Keep in mind that I leave my lights on all of the time.

Thanks for the info. I just put Nighthawks in my RL, but I might try these if they burn out.

Re: GE Nighthawk replacement bulbs, and fog light question

I also have the GE Nighthawks and one just went out and I've probably had them in for about a year. I was hoping they would last longer. I leave my lights on all the time. So right now, I'm running one Nighthawk and one OEM since I haven't been able to find the Nighthawk locally. ; )

I've had PIAAs on other vehicles and only got about a year out of them too.

Order the Nighthawks online, they're about $17 to $22.
