Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

Got the dynolock installed today, ran out of time and daylight. I hope to install the retrax cover Sunday. Great price on the dynolock thru Retrax. I believe the savings was about $30. Check it out if you want the lock as well. It was a little tricky for me to install, but it was fun and gives one a little pride to do it yourself. Not to mention the money saved to install yourself.

Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

A little help from everyone out there with the Retrax.

I received my retrax on Monday. I tried to do the install today and I believe we have a damaged side rail- passenger side.

Please see attached pictures. Picture #1 is driver’s side sits flush to bed and holes line up for bolt.

Pictures #2 and #3, show a bend and it does not sit flush to the bed on the passenger side. Holes do not line up either for the rear bolt.

Do we have a damaged side rail?

I emailed Customer service with pictures, since they are closed today.

I though I would get a quicker reply from everyone out there at the ROC.

Thanks

Yup, it's bent. Fear not, Randy at Retrax will replace it quickly.

Yes, I called them Monday morning. Randy said this has happen in the shipping. Freight company(UPS) in my case drop the package and caused the bracket to get bent. Randy sent the replacement out via FedEx. It's on it's way.

Good news is that I don't have to return the bent one. He said because the pictures I sent he will be able to get damages covered without returning. He ever suggested that I bent it back myself to get by. I didn't want to do that because I thought I was going to have to ship it back. It was a bummer, but they are making it right.

I think I will wire my tailgate lock to the trunk lock circuit, but will have to remove the passenger side bed panel. That looks like the simplest way to get to the harness and I that way don't have to mess with the seat belts and all that in the interior. (Interior stuff never looks quite as good after I remove and replace. Just me, I guess.)

I have some other work planned for the RL, and hope to do it all at once, and therefore only one disassembly/reassembly on the bed panels and pillars, etc.
good luck, I didn't see any plans for that install? Everything inside looks like it did, when I put everything back. Door sills and center panel came right off and popped right back on. The scary part was the wiring in the center panel. There is a lot of tape around a lot of wires.

It didn't work at first, so I had to call Jim to help trouble shoot. I also had to go to the hardware store to get some more connectors for the tail gate, since I broke two of the ones that were shipped. After reconnecting and re-clamping on connector in the cab, it worked!!!

removing the top of the tail gate was hard as well. A couple of the clips broke, but tail gate is very tight.

Well I finally took the plunge and called Retrax today to order a shiny new cover. Should be in middle of next week, looking forward to getting it on the truck. My bed has taken a beating and I really want to hide that a little.

Joe, is the price the same? Some members have mentioned that it may not be. I got mine a year ago for $849 + $53 shipping to Pa.

I understand Retrax has improved the spiral mechanism since I bought mine. It should retract even smoother than mine and mine is pretty smooth already.

Good luck with it. The install is really easy. It'll take less than an hour.

Yeah the discount is still $100, the shipping to RI went up about $5, no big deal, total was about $913. They said they would try to get it out today, should be in mid next week, cannot wait. Have seen the cover at several meets and really like them.

I saw my first Retrax on DBB's RL at the Cape May Meet back in '06. I really liked it, too. Good luck with it Joe, I hope it serves you well.
