Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

That's great northernguy! Thanks for passing on the info. How about putting Tony in touch with T Mac to see if they will be a ROC sponsor. A phone call from you is all that it may take to get the ball rolling. I am not sure about the logistics and what arrangements are in place since Retrax as a manufacturer is already a sponsor, but they sure could pick up some additional sales from ROC members if they became a sponsor.
I am just a member and I recognize a potential sponsor. T Mac is the person to contact. PM him if you have questions.

Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

Does anyone have an idea on how the retraxx box will stand up to an object pushed up against it? For my work I from time to time have cleaning machines in the bed and I usually push them all the way to the front of the bed and use ratcheting straps to hold it to the front of the bed using the four front cletes. Will the retrax box stand up to a 100-200lb object pushed tight against it or will it dent in? I'd like one of these things, but if I'm just going to damage it the first time I tie down a machine I don't think I should get it.

I don't think that it would be a good idea. The canister and the lid itself were not designed with that kind of duty in mind. However, it would not take too much to fabricate a backstop that would provide the tough barrier wall that the machines could be lashed to. A few 2 x 4s and some plywood would do it. Yank it out when you don't need it. The rest of the time you have all of the advantages and the flexibility of the Retrax.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. Maybe I'll just see how this winter goes and make a decision then.

U-Hs suggestion is a good and viable one. It wouldn't take much wood or thought to come up with a temporary backstop to protect the Retrax box. Don't rule out this cover. If you get one and fabricate a backstop, be sure to post some photos.

Randy still has that $100 off for ROC members, so that made it a bit easier. I also ordered the lock cover and the tailgate seals. Anyone put these seals on yet? Does it really make a difference?

Anyway, thanks to everyone on this thread for chiming in on this cover (espically Ultra-Hog for the pics and details). Now, I'm off to Sears to pick up the T40 and T50 Torx bits.

BTW, I got an email from Ed at Dynoproducts. He said that the Dynolock for the Ridgeline should be available in 2 - 3 weeks.
Any news of the Dynolock?

So the only drilling in the whole project is the plastic pieces for the drain plugs. Kinda worried about the rust issue to, is there enough room to spray some anti rust product in there?

Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

Question on the Retrax:

How well will the rails and the cover box handle having mulch, compost, etc. dumped on them when the cover is retracted? Will it clog the mechanisms? Also, how much snow can the cover handle?

Re: Retrax Tonneau Cover AVAILABLE NOW + Di$count for ROC Members!

hankim, it's a very simple and clean design. I don't see any problem with mulch or compost clogging the slider. It would be simple to brush off. I think you'd have to work hard at getting debris into the cannister too.

I'm not worried about snow weight in the least. It's very sturdy. The Retrax website probably has the specs on load capacity.

If you are ever in the Ogden area, we'd be glad to meet you so you could check it out in person.
