Does the factory Tonneau cover lock the rear tailgate when closed?

Welcome to the ROC lion80.

To answer your question - Yes!

There's a ton of info on this site about tonneau covers; oh and a few other things.
Get yourself a cool drink and check out the search function.

Re: OEM Tonneau Cover

You've come to the right place. You'll find lots of info here including a checklist to aid you with your purchase. You'll also find a large number of very knowlegable individuals here who have over a years real-world experience with the Ridgeline. There's alot more knowlege here than you'll find at any dealership. So enjoy searching and looking around and asking questions.

Thanks for your service to this great country!!!

Funny you should ask that...the answer is yes, uh...no...sometimes...maybe...

I had to have the little lock cylinder replaced, got a new one no problem (under warranty) but the dam part was over $100.00 - hate to think about it when I start having to buy parts for this thing...
anyway - yes it will lock if everything works as it should - about 20% of the time. When it does lock, a good wiggle of the tg will cause it to pop open, so it WILL lock ...sometimes.....but can open pretty easily.

Did you have the cover installed by the dealer? I installed the cover myself and sometimes have a little difficulty getting it to lock (maybe 5% of the time) But once it is locked it stays that way with no problems.

Re: OEM Tonneau Cover

I had cover and lock installed by dealer and have not had any problem. I'm not saying I'll store anything back there I can't afford to lose, though. The lock is not that massive, and I'm sure someone who really worked at the tail gate could get it to open. Safest thing to do ... put it in the bed trunk! That is a marvelous storage place for most items, and it is much more secure.

Re: OEM Tonneau Cover

Our new OEM Tonneau cover (Dealer installed) appears to lock properly and prevents me from opening the tailgate to the down position but no hint of a lock for the swing action. Am I missing something? I did crawl inside and looked at the allignment with my wife locking the cover, all looks ok. I will be taking it in tomorrow anyway but I wanted to ask you folks incase its just something I am doing wrong. (New truck, new member.....)

Re: OEM Tonneau Cover

the lock when properly installed will prevent it from opening either way.
