2007 trailer wiring harness?

Howdy. I just purchased a 2007 RTS and am trying to get it work ready. i installed a Putnam trailer hitch ($128.00) and am not sure what i need to wire it properly. supposedly the truck is prewired for 4 and 7 pin connectors (unlike the previous models?), but it seems that Honda only sells a complete harness. Anyone have any idea on how to proceed?

Re: 2007 trailer wiring harness?

The OEM harness is a little pricey but by design it separates the trailer lights from the rest of the truck. It is fairly simple to put in... need to pull down the lower dash on the drivers side and install a few relays and connectors. Also under the hood you need to add the fuses. At the back you'll pull down the wiring harness taped up in the chassis and connect your 4 and 7 pin connectors. Since you did not purchase the OEM hitch you will have to find some means of mounting the two connectors back there.

Go to etrailer.com they sell an easy to install harness and it works great. I paid around $49.00 for mine.

If you decide to use the Honda Wiring Harness, jump over to the towing section of this forum and do some research. The install isn't all that difficult, but taking the time to read what others have posted will make it easier.
