Re: Jackrabbit vs Full Metal JackRabbit tonneau covers

I am looking at the FMJR just because it is a preference of mine. I was wondering if anyone has installed this product on there ridgeline yet and is it easy to install? I am looking at buying this weekend (i have heard pleanty of great reviews). Or should I go witht the bakflip hard tanneau( i am really confused)? Please let me know what you think and thank you in advance for your support.

Re: Jackrabbit vs Full Metal JackRabbit tonneau covers

I ordered a FMJ yesterday. I will see it all the time, and feel the metal will look a lot better than vinyl and hold up better in the long run.

Did you miss this response to my question on page #1 of this thread from Bostonridgeline?

I agree, and did state in my previous posts, that the FMJ does look better. BUT the vinyl is by no means ugly, it is really attractive in it's own right. My father-in-law has a standard JR on his Ford F-150 and as long as it's maintained periodically with a vinyl care product, it looks really good.

My concerns with the FMJ, was with the "live silicon hinges", as Pace Edwards describes them. Is the silicon the only thing interconnecting &/or supporting the aluminum slats? If so how durable is that going to be over time. And if so could a theif not simply slip a knife between the slats and cut through the siclicon hinge?

Just some thoughts IMHO....

JR

Click this link for my install pics of the FMJ. Very nice fit and quality. No regrets going with the FMJ. BTW, I previously had the BakFlip installed. I had one of the early verisons of the BakFlip. My thought with the BakFlip was to preserve the bed space rather than have a canister (Retrax and JackRabbit). I can't comment on the new version of the BakFlip but the Pace Edward FMJR is much better. The installation was easy...you will need two people to install it...maybe more if you can't do a squat lift. I took about 1 hour to install and I was taking my time. I have a BakFlip for sale if anyone is interested.
