Re: Bakflip or Full Metal JackRabbit

The FMJR is a keyed locking cover. Check out the pics I posted on this thread. The keyhole is on the left rear of the cover near the twist knob and the handle.

Re: Bakflip or Full Metal JackRabbit

There is no wiring that needs to be done. The installation can be done by one person but would be better / safer / quicker with 2 since the canister is heavy. The reason for 2 people is that when moving the canister/rails as one piece into the front of the bed, it kinda gets a little awkward since the rails kinda "hang" from the canister. Each person can take a side and easily manuver it into the bed.

TIP #1: When removing the drain plug covers, drill a screw into the middle of the drain cover 1/2 way though. The screw can be used as a handle to pop out the drain cover. Remove the screw and now use that screw hole to begin drilling through the cap. Nice and easy

TIP #2: If the cover does not easily slide back, make sure the rubber parts are set correctly. If the parts is set correctly, follow the directions to apply 303 Protectant (or similar) to the undersides of the rubber flaps on the rails. Reapply the protectant (or similar) after each truck wash.

Re: Bakflip or Full Metal JackRabbit - tie down access?

The pictures by Paladin were a great help in seeing the FMJR installed.

However, there is one point that I have not been able to find out from searching the forums.

With the FMJR, it looks like the top tie downs just below the back window remain in place, but are they still usable? How much clearance is there? Would you be able to get a hook for a tie-down strap in there?

thanks,

pdmazz
