I ordered an electric tailgate lock with my Retrax tonneau. It's still on backorder (over a month). I understand the manufacturer is backlogged. Perhaps this all ties together???

I haven’t heard a peep from any of the guys making tailgate locks. After reading some of the posts in Mobile Electronics, I’m wondering if some of our members with electronic expertise would be interested in combining their resources together to enable our key fobs to energize a solenoid to push a lock pin and make our own tailgate locking unit. I could machine the components and outside housing. I also have access to stainless fasteners and mechanical devices. I do not have the slightest idea how the buttons on my key unlock and roll down my windows though. Any Takers?

Hello all, I need to find out how many of you whould like to purchase one of the Electric Tailgate Locks send me a private message. This site has no poll system so its hard to judge. The cost will more than likely be under $190 but we are not sure yet. This will also have a year free replacement. Also Installation Insructions will be online (picture to picture detail) I will have more info as completion comes about.

Wow. Likely be under $190? Dynoproducts has most of their electric tailgate locks for under $70 ($99 for high security). Why such a high price? Is there much more to these?

Guess I'd do it for the $70 that Dynoproducts charges, but I'd really have to think twice before I spent over two and a half times that much....

I agree even $175 would be a little steep, I haven't seen the inside of the tailgate but most other electic tailgate locks i've seen just throw a bolt though the handle linkage, keeping it from operating, can't imagine this is much more complicated than that. I might just wait for another brand to make one, only a matter of time I would imagine.
