I'd bet a dollar that they are not. I'm sure that they all come with some sort of disclaimer that these horns are for "offroad use" only.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that there is a guy in my area who has a set of these horns on his truck. I saw him being written a ticket by the police on a public road after spending an afternoon scaring the pink hair off of old ladies at the local mall.

Most local jurisdictions have laws against loud music and noise. I would say that a 120 dB shrill chord from a set of hornblasters could be construed as loud music in any court of law. A 3 note musical chord by definition is music.

I would sure swear out a warrant. I believe that would fall under the "He who laughs last" category.

Re: Train Horns

I want an electronic horn (Not an air horn) like the ones that used to be used on Police bikes and Police cruisers.

mostly legal, but not in some states... Texas is a "green" state, but it might fall under the "unauthorized use of emergency equipment" violation if you did it around a real ******* cop.

either way, google "Whelen air horn" and you'll find what you're looking for.

Well, kind of a grey area. According to the Texas DOT, adding the electronic horn is not illegal and its "proper" use is not illegal. You can be written a ticket for honking your OEM horn if there is not a "real" reason for sounding it/them. Train horns are illegal because they are even louder than the horns and sirens on firetrucks and (in Texas) they are specified as illegal for public road use.

well, if you're feelin froggy, you can't beat the Whelen Power Airhorn w/PA. The newer Whelen SA315 speaker fits beautifully behind the grill. I have a pair of them waiting to go in my truck. My OEM horns are useless, you can't hear them at all when my Grover airhorn is aired up.

Select the Whelen SA315P speaker that ISP mentions, and your price is $207.11

Re: Train Horns

Hello all...I bought the Ridgeline Used and it included these Train Horns, so i cant tell you how to install it or what type of train horns they are, but they are super loud. The small air compressor is conected to the battery and switched on/off by a red switch on the left hand side of the steering wheel. You blow the horns with a botton located next to the cruise control switch. Its very fun to have!!
