Unhappy Bug shield...what bug shield...

I bought a bug shield less than six months ago (good purchase - but a major headache to actually recieve from the place I purchased it) and I was walking around the front of my truck the other day, and a very large chunk of it was gone (actually the whole left piece that sits above the light). Kinda sucks since I spent over $100 on it. Now I'm in the market to buy another. Any suggestions on the best and lowest place to purchase. Thanks

Welcome to the ROC.... Was it the OEM one? I have that one and have not had any problems. It is nice and strong.

Re: Bug shield...what bug shield...

I have the Lund Interceptor bug shield. Got it locally for 65.00.
I like it because it's given me (going-on) two years of scratch-free satisfaction.
I've used plastic polish on it a few times with excellent results.

There have been times, when walking around the front of the truck, that I've caught the end of the guard with my jacket, and it flexed enough so that it didn't break.

Welcome to the ROC, and good luck with your choice of replacement.

Seems to me that your broken bug shield saved damage to your hood or windshield. I am using the Wade clear defector paineted the color of my Ridgline - total cost around $100.

I have the OEM bugshield. I like it! You can get it for a good price on H&A. I bought mine at the dealer as part of my car deal.

Re: Bug shield...what bug shield...

Go with the Wade OEM shield. You can get it in clear for $36+ shipping from Nulime. Less bulkey than the Honda OEM shield and like BfastChef stated, you can paint the back of it to match your RL. It really blends well with the rest of the truck.

I checked out the Honda OEM but did not like the look for the bolts from the front and did not like the center rest against the hood. And it costs too much.

Do a search on "Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored" and you will see excellent examples in that post.

Good Luck.

Do you know what broke it? It may have protected your RL from something bad, or someone may have broken it at the mall etc. Just wondering.

My wife's CRV's bug shield was broken by someone walking by and catching it on something. They placed the broken part in the windshield wiper well. Only reason we found it was because it vibrated over 45mph. I ended up gluing the big part back on, minus a small piece. Still cheaper than a new one.

I've got the OEM one as well on the RL as part of the purchase.

Re: Bug shield...what bug shield...

Go with the Lund they have a life time warranty . They already have replaced mine once, with no hassle. The dealer even ordered after I called so I could bring in the broken one and exchange for new one in one trip. Fell off a ladder and stumbled into the RL hood and it broke. The one on my van is 12 yrs. old with no problems. Get a clear one and paint it on the back side to match body color.
