After Market Fog Lights,OEM Switch & Wiring Harness?
I'm plan to install a set of fog lights onto a push bar but I would like to avoid an interior switch that does not look factory. So I thought I would try posting a question for the first time and see if anyone has used the factory wiring harness, relays and fuses with after market fog lights or driving lights. Another advantage would be the added lights would operate like factory lights. If anyone has done or explored this any information you can provide would be appreicated. Thanks for the help

Re: After Market Fog Lights,OEM Switch & Wiring Harness?
I have not tried this, but it should work provided that the aftermarket fog lights draw the same or less current then the OEM fog lights.
Also I'm not sure if you can buy the parts for an OEM light kit a la carte. You may end up with a set of OEM fogs and plastic bezels that are expensive dust collectors. Hope this helps, Matt

Re: After Market Fog Lights,OEM Switch & Wiring Harness?
I'd be interested in hearing how the OEM harness works. The problem I have is that I would like to mount a set of driving lights on my brush bar and I would like them to operate when the high beams are on. The OEM set up is for fog lights which by design operate only with the low beams. I think that would woirk great for you as long as you are installing FOG and not DRIVING lights.
Eventually I'd like to install a set of OEM fog lights and then an aftermarket set of driving lights on the brush bar. But the wiring seems to be the hang-up; how to control the driving lights to shut down when the high beams are turned off. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Mark |

Re: After Market Fog Lights,OEM Switch & Wiring Harness?
I've dedcided to try the factory wiring harness with aftermarket lights. They do sell the individual parts seperately so all you need is two harnesses, the switch and a relay. I'm also mounting on a bull bar and something I considered is the PIAA dual lights that are both driving and fog lights. They also come with sticker shock but are probably cheaper than installing two seperate sets. Good luck and I'll let you know how the wiring of the lights work but it may be spring before I get it complete.

Re: After Market Fog Lights,OEM Switch & Wiring Harness?
You might also consider just using the factory switch and adding a relay to the aftermarket light harness. Wire them directly to the battery, but wire the relay so that it connects to a switched lead like the headlights or the cigarrette lighters. I used the lighters so that mine would effectively be DRLs, and I would have not chance of leaving them on.
The power is drawn from the battery and the relay is just a switch that turns them on and off with the power. The interior switch is another override.
