License Plate Frames

In another link, Voices In My Head, the ROC Member, not the other ones , brought up a point about finding a license plate frame that will fit the rear bumper of the ridgeline. I've scoured my locak Checker and Autozone and haven't found anything that fits yet, because the license plate drops down behind the bumper. Even my local Honda dealership has anything to fit. A bare plate is just that....BARE. How about it out there, what are you guys using for rear license plate frames.

BTW...I finally finsished the paperwork transfering my Ridgeline to my name, trading out a California plate for a Ridgeline thats still good until December of 08 for my new AZ plate.

I just checked other posts and should specifiy....I'm looking for BLACK frames, not chrome.

Re: License Plate Frames

You could get the $3 chrome one (Bell 46215) from Autozone and spray it black.
Check here for alternatives (the carbon fiber one (46189) looks to be the best fit.) http://www.bellautomotive.com/asp/th...s.asp?cat=2203

Rusty, for what it's worth....

Early next year a new law goes into effect in AZ with regards to plate frames. Basically, you cannot have a frame that covers the word 'Arizona' on the top part of the plate. AZ License Plates. Not too well known since it actually got passed 2 years ago but doesn't start until 2009.

FYI....

Good luck my friend! I gave up, and grabbed one of these chrome diamond plate frames from Autozone $10-$12 can't remember...

Took it home - wire brush head on the Dremel to scuff it. Clean with 70% iso alcohol.
2 coats of high temp gray primer on day 1.
2 coats of high temp black on day 2.
Install day 3.

Ya know... I think the state name may be covered up... Can't really tell, I was looking at my tags in the corners being covered up. Doh! And yes, I know I need to paint the bolts... I'm not lazy, I just have an excess of patience..............

My camera plate is tapered to drop right into the slot.

Re: License Plate Frames

I'd been keeping an OEM Honda front tag kit from one of our older Accords (probably a 1990) in my "stuff I really should throw out" bin for years. It got a second life when I bought my Ridgeline. It had one side open for the tag to slide in & that was absolutely perfect. It was not modified in any way. And it has a Honda OEM stamp on the back!

There really isn't any point in trying to disguise my tag number

Well Thank God we have lawmakers out there making Arizona safe from careless licence plate frame mongers. What's left, a door molding run around the edge of the license plate........hmmmmm.....

Think black plastic bolt covers, four for four bucks at Checker. I'm using two right now just to hide the bolts. And after what meanmachine 19 just said, I'm not sure what options are left. I'll think of something, but first I have to go throw some rocks at the state capitol. Legislating license plate frames. GEESH. I moved away from California to get away from that nonsense.
