Re: Instructions for placing/installing your ROC decal...
It's probably just me, but I had a bit of trouble understanding all the steps in the instructions for putting the ROC decal on my truck. Seeing how to use the masking tape (for the "Hinge" method) wasn't completely clear to me at first, and I had to play around with the masking tape to get it in the right places. Don't know if this will be helpful to anyone else, but I rewrote the instructions to make the masking tape part a little easier to follow. Here's what I came up with......
ROC Sticker Installation
“Hinge” Method
NOTE: The surface where the vinyl will be placed MUST BE CLEAN. A mixture of 60/40 vinegar and water, or soap and water works well to prepare the surface. Glass cleaners may not allow the vinyl sticker to adhere properly. Towel the area dry and follow the installation method listed below to apply the vinyl graphic.
1. Position the entire vinyl package as you received it (application tape, vinyl graphic, and backing tape) on the OUTSIDE of the window it will be placed on. Use a small piece of masking tape in the upper right corner of the sticker to hold it in place.
NOTE: Blue painter’s masking tape is best to use because it releases easier than the standard beige tape. However, any making tape will work.
2. Step back and look at the sticker to determine if the positioning is correct. If desired, you can also measure it to determine if the sticker is where you want it. Adjust as needed.
3. Next, place a piece of masking tape lengthwise along the BOTTOM of the sticker, from end to end. The masking tape should be ½ on the sticker, and ½ on the glass. This creates a “hinge” that will allow you to position the sticker perfectly.
4. Remove the small piece of masking tape which was used to position the sticker. This piece of tape is no longer needed.
5. Hinge the package down so that the backing is exposed.
6. SLOWLY peel the package backing (the part covering the actual sticker) away from the application tape/vinyl package.
7. Slowly hinge the package back into position. Care should be taken here to make certain the sticker goes smoothly against the glass and no wrinkles appear in the sticker.
8. Press the sticker in place, starting at the lower edge and working back and forth as you move up the decal.
9. Go over the area with a credit card or other stiff plastic object to further press the vinyl into place.
10 Once the decal is on, SLOWLY start to peel away the transfer tape from end to end. For best results, peel the tape at a LOW ANGLE (close to the surface) toward the remaining tape and graphic.
NOTE: If the tape is pulled up at a 90-degree to the surface, the vinyl might come with it. If any vinyl tries to lift, simply press it back down with the transfer tape and try peeling it again.
