Thanks! I didn't really expect anyone to be around when I asked the question, but thought I would give it a shot. It ended up being really simple, almost embarrassingly so. I think it made the job easier to pull the console and really didn't take any time (once I knew how to do it). I should have known that fishing the wire through would not work for me. (just look at my record when fishing the Lakes around Arizona - I really suck at fishing - but what a great excuse to drink)

Thanks Ron! Anytime you want to call, I'll show you how to take the console off. It really is pretty easy - even for me.

Re: Scangauge installation

In post #38 of this thread there is a pic of a scangauge that has CPM0000.

My scangauge doesn't have this parameter built into it. What is it and when did they add it on?

Are you sure they are zeros?.....

It's CPM9999. It means, "Cost Per Mile". Damn that gas is expensive. Actually, since I wasn't moving, the ScanGauge goes to 9999 because anything divided by zero (from a computer's standpoint) is invalid. I have the ScanGauge II but I really don't know when they added it.

Check out the Scan guage web page. There is a new software ver. out. IIRC it's $25.00 . My turn around time was 7 days. I think it's a very useful upgrade.

Re: Scangauge installation

ScanGauge installation. When the NAA is open, the ScanGauge is tilted up and to the driver's side of the R-L.

So far, much used!

Re: Scangauge installation

Hey LionelLines, that looks just like my install. Good Job! For me, this seems to be the best mounting location. It works great even in direct sunlight. Glad to see you were successful.

Re: Scangauge capability

Apparently the xgauge capability doesn't include oil pressure.

So... the question is, is this because the Ridge doesn't provide the info through the OBDII port, or because the programmer hasn't added the info to the xgauge capability on the Ridge.

(I suspect I know the answer, but I'd like to hear it from someone that knows)

Looks like I can answer my own question.. looking at alldata's info, there is a pressure switch, but no transducer for oil pressure.

I infer that from the following (from alldata):

Below is how to check the oil pressure switch:

1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch, then install an oil pressure gauge (A).
2. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.
3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be: Engine Oil Temperature: 176°F (80°C) Engine Oil Pressure: At Idle: 70 kPa (0.7 kgf/cm2, 10 psi) min . At 3,000 rpm: 490 kPa (5.0 kgf/cm2, 71 psi) min .
4. If oil pressure is out of specifications, inspect these items:
5. Inspect the oil pressure relief valve.
6. Check the oil screen for clogging.
7. Inspect the oil pump.

If there was an oil pressure transducer, this test procedure would be unnecessary... just the check of the switch itself.

I suppose someone might make a transducer that you could put between the switch and the oil pressure line. So at least you could ADD an oil pressure gauge.

In any event, its obvious that scangauge has no information available to it... for oil pressure.
