Thumbs down MY A.R.E. ARE Cap / Canopy LEAKS!

So I show up to get my A.R.E. Cap.

The dude installing it had a $20 tip coming to him but he left the bed of the truck absolutely filthy w/ the left over parts(?) just tossed about randomly. I was so pissed I left the dealer w/o saying a word. I was afraid if he gave me any lip over it, there might have been an incident. Oh, he tells me "No car washes w/ brushes for 30 days.".

I get home and discover there are a couple of spots not properly painted. I can over look it since they're way out of sight.

I take my baby to a brushless car wash. What to my wondering eyes should appear, but 2 puddles of water, & trickle path clear. I call the dealer and get "Oh, that happens with all Caps, you just have to learn to live with it..."
For $1795.00 plus tax, my @$$ I have to live with it. I've called ARE & they say sometimes, under high pressure water jets in a car wash, leaks unfortunately happen. GEE, THAT WASN'T IN THE BROCHURE. FUX ME.

I'd be very grateful if any other ARE owners out there would be kind enough to share their experience. THANX! -Z-

Re: MY A.R.E. ARE Cap / Canopy LEAKS!

I have had 3 truck caps on my last three trucks and they all leaked a little when i went to the car wash. I am getting my leer cap installed this weekend hopefully. The installer is a personal friend and has done quite a few ridgelines. He said they use a lot of silicone, and have a few tricks, that have allowed them to get the cap on without any major leaks. I am not sure what the differences are between the leer and ARE design though.

Can you post pics?

I had a Swiss cap on the GMC I traded in on the Ridgeline. It didn't leak at all.
