Homelink and Genie Intellicode

Hey all,

So lately I have been having problems setting up a new RF signal for my new garage door opener. I had the homelink working before on a another garage door opener, but since then I have cleared all codes and started from scratch on the new one.

I tried setting up like a normal code and everything went exactly as the manual described, but the homelink didn't work.

Then I tried the rolling code setup per the manual, and the homelink still didn't work.

I don't think there is a training button on my garage door opener.

Any ideas?

Edit: I just found the following link and I am going to check under the lightbulb cover this weekend. We will see what goes. If anyone is an expert and has other information, please chime in. Thanks. Garage Opener

Re: Homelink and Genie Intellicode

I think all new garage door openers have the rolling code. Mine is older and doesn't have rolling code, but my sister was having trouble getting hers set and asked me to help. I knew her opener was newer, so I looked all over for the training button. I finally found it under the light lens. Hers is a Genie too.

Yes, the training button is usually under the light cover of the opener.

Also, make sure to follow the directions in the Honda manual. By default, the homelink uses a static code, and you have to go through the steps in order for it to switch to rolling code mode.

Re: Homelink and Genie Intellicode

If you have to change the home-link to rolling code mode, is it possible to have the home-link trianed to open a rolling code opener as well as a static code opener?

Yes, the 3 are individuals/unique openers. Be advised though that the homelink may open multiple rolling code doors/gates, no matter what you do. The individual supplied openers do not, homelink does on both my accord & rl. All three the same brand openers/motors. What's that they say, "When one door closes, another one opens"?

Re: Homelink and Genie Intellicode

I managed to accomplish the homelink/genie intellicode sync. After reading this article:

http://www.geniedoor.com/content/programming-instructions.htm

then search for homelink. I required someone to press the training mode button while I programmed the homelink device. As the garage door opener is only in training mode for 30 secs.

JulesK was right from the thread I listed. Everything went well after following his directions.

Re: Homelink and Genie Intellicode

Had the same problem with my new RTL. Simply called the 800 number for homelink listed in my owner's manual. They walked me through the process and everything works fine. The owner's manual did not have the correct instructions!
