RidgeBak Cover - New info from BAK

There is another thread regarding the new BAK Industries RidgeBak cover where a lot of questions are being asked about how it works. I contacted BAK directly from their website and asked some of them. Following are the questions and the answers they provided.........

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your e mail.

Herewith follow the answers to your questions:

1. Does the installation method allow the trunk to completely open or is it restricted by side rails like on other covers?

The truck has no obstruction and you will have full use of it with the RidgeBak cover installed.

2. How is the cover sealed to keep water out of the bed?

The RidgeBak has rubber seals along the sides that insulate it as well as integrated drainage rails that will catch any possible water if it does manage to penetrate the rubber seals. This cover is superb in the rain. Certainly better than any other Ridgeline cover out there.

3. How does the cover lock?

The cover locks to the rail that it sits on. You will however need to lock your tailgate. With the gate locked, the cover is impregnable. It’s far and away the strongest cover on the market and can support the weight of multiple people. It’s got phenomenal security!

4. The advertising we have seen indicated the cover "clamps" in place and can be removed quickly. How do the clamps install on the bed and how do they install on the cover?

That’s somewhat erroneous, as there are no clamps required. The cover’s rails attach to the side of the bed using the pre-existing holes in the truck. There’s one attachment point in the center and one up at the cab end. There is NO DRILLING required! The install takes just minutes. The cover drops onto the installed rails, clicks into place and firmly attaches with quick release knobs in the front corners under the cover. Simply remove the knobs under the cover and the whole thing can be removed in less than a minute.

Julian Maimin
