Another OEM hitch install
I just finished up installing my Honda hitch and harness. Called around the local dealers and found one that came close enough to the best online deal I could find so I picked up the harness and hitch yesterday. NOTE: The hitch does not come with instructions. I suppose you could ask the parts dept for one but it's easy enough to download it from H and A Accessories dot com - Genuine Factory Honda and Acura Accessories at discount prices. Accessories made by Honda and Acura for your car or somebody.
The instructions from Honda are pretty good but I did have a few questions after reading them. Especially since some of the parts in my kit didn't exactly match the ones in the directions I downloaded. Specifically, the bracket that connects under the dash was slightly different and maybe one other thing but I don't recall for sure. It was minor stuff though and not a problem after looking at other threads here on the ROC. Thanks to those of you that posted pictures. That was most helpful. Installed the harness this morning. Boy it is TIGHT under the dash. Not too hard but put your arm in and then slide your body behind it for best access. I had an army of gnats in my ears and eyes at the time. That was somewhat distracting. Installed the hitch after lunch. It was a snap. I had planned on getting my father in law to help position it but I ended up not needing him. I used two cinder blocks, a couple scrap pieces of wood, and some cardboard to shim it up into place while I installed the bolts. I did scratch the outside edge of the trunk being careless but nobody will ever see it other than me and the tire guy I suppose. I took my time and double checked everything as I went so total actual project time was around 3 hours. Not difficult at all but I wouldn't do this one without a torque wrench - or a buddy with one that can check the bolts for you. I'm sure it works but I'll go out with the multimeter when it cools off and test everything. |

Re: Another OEM hitch install
Sounds like you did your research. Do you feel The Honda hitch is the best one to use? What was the best price you found on line? Ever look here
Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store Look like a good price. I need to see since they say it is for a 07 that it will still fix a 08. Should no problem but better to be safe then sorry. PS- What did you pay for the hitch if you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
