Tubular Bed Rails Anyone?

I've always liked the look of those tubular rails that run along the top sides of a pick-up's bed. I think they'd not only add some visual appeal, but would be functional as well in that they'd give more points to tie-off to, and offer protection for the bed's edges when loading/unloading the bed from the sides.

I've yet to see any pics of these on the RL, and am wondering if the sloping sides of the bed would make them look less than desirable, which might be the reason that none of the accessory sites have made them available for the RL. Some of these bars mount in the "stake holes" that the RL lacks, and that could also be a reason for the manufacturers' lack of interest, I guess.

I've seen pics of the unavailable rails that mount beneath the edges of the bed that were initially offered OEM, but they weren't what I was looking for, anyways.

Any related info or pics would be great! I was thinkin' black rails for my Silver.

Re: Tubular Bed Rails Anyone?

Hard to believe there's been 177 views of this post and not one reply!
I've been checking accessory sites at least once-a-week for these since I got my RL, but I guess the lack of interest in this post demonstrates the lack of interest of the suppliers to offer the rails.
It's been awhile since my original post, so I'm bumping this up in hopes that maybe a new member might notice it and respond with an idea or suggestion.

Maybe one of our Photoshop experts on the forum can draw something up so you can see what they'd look like on the RL. Not sure how they'd look with the sloping sides either.

THAT would be cool! I didn't even think of that! I don't have photoshop but maybe another of my programs might give me the ability to "cut/paste" some rails from somewhere onto a pic of the RL. I'll hafta check.
Thanks for the idea!

Can you zoom in on the rail area. Doesn't show up real well on my monitor here, but looks good from what I can see.

Personally, I'm not too big on those on any trucks! However, I don't like brush guards either, but we all have our own styles, don't we?

I'm workin' on another photochop to give you a different perspective of the rails on the RL. It's not workin'-out too well, tho. I'm just a rookie at this "image altering stuff".

My apologies to Paladin for puttin' his Ridge behind bars

I better wait to see if I can get a coupla pics with the owner's blessings before I go "embellishing" their RL's! I mean, I've decided it just ain't right to go messin' with someone's "baby pictures" by drivin' stakes thru their hearts.

And I'd hate to turn the good people here against the bed rails by posting crappy "rendered" pictures of them here on the ROC. THAT wouldn't help my cause at all, of getting manufacturers to start offering them for the Ridgeline.

Heck! I don't even know if they CAN be mounted on the composite sides of the bed, in the first place! Is there metal under there, or what?

I think I'll take a trip over to the great posts by princess and check-out the pics of the disassembled bedliner. Maybe I'll get a better idea if it's at all possible.

Difficult to reach over the sides now and I'm 6'6" tall. Can't imagine how the vertically impaired do it.

Question Re: Tubular Bed Rails Anyone?

After taking a gander at one of princess's pics of the bedliner removal, I still can't tell for sure whether or not the top edges of the bed's sides would be wide enough for the installation of a standard bed side rail.
If not, and they are too narrow, it looks like I'd hafta rely on some innovative thinking to mount the rails with some type of bracket that would attach to the inside surface of the composite and thru, into the metal behind it.

Tomorrow, after work, it looks like I've got some calls to make... sometimes I guess ya gotta go to the source to keep from bangin' yer head too much...
