Re: Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored

jch, that looks really sharp!!! After seeing pics of the different colors (blue, green, silver, white - not black yet) I'm convinced that the painted Wade looks just as clean and sharp no matter what color the vehicle is.
Really nice!

jch, How did you handle the ears on the deflector and the mount points for the gasket? I had planned to look at mine again, but haven't had time yet. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored

Thanks for the compliments Twintym, jsant01 and Rick. I agree, the deflector works well in any color.
Rick,
The install...
When I first held the deflector up under the hood and saw that the mounting ears would be close if not over top of the holes for the gasket I requested that the paint shop mask off the tabs so they remain clear. That way I could see where the holes were under the deflector when I mounted it. To do the install I removed the 2 outside clips from both ends of the gasket and the clip to the outside of each inner mounting hole. After I mounted the deflector and saw that each tab had a clip hole under the corner of it, I made a small hole in the gasket in line with each deflector mounting screw (x4), ran the screws with the plastic washers thru the gasket and it was that easy. I remounted the gasket and mounted the deflector with the 4 screws (plus all the plugs I didn't remove from the gasket still holding the gasket). I hope this makes sense.
At just under $50 for the deflector (with shipping) and $60 for the paint job, this is a great addition! The shop did a adhesion promoter, color and clear coat.

jch, that makes perfect sense. That's exactly what I've been thinking of doing but just haven't had the free time to get to it yet. So big thanks for your advice.

Re: Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored

Thanks to all in this thread! I just purchased the Wade clear deflector (took awhile to get, due to Wade needing 30 days). I did the paint job myself. Got the Bulldog prep, Nighthawk Black paint and Clearcoat online and ended up with total package (deflector, paint, shipping) costing around $90. Still have leftover paint for touch up. Looks excellent! I'll post some pics in the next few days.

Re: Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored

You can add me to the list of the ROC members that have added this fine accessory. I may also have the distinction of being the one who paid the MOST for it. Shipping and import fees to Canada almost tripled the $58US this item cost online at horsepowerfreaks.com (the only source I could find willing to ship to Canada - now I know why). Live and learn.
