Re: G. Tech brush guard master picture & info thread

Very nice!!!

I do have one suggestion for you. If you take nuts that are larger than the bolts on the fog/driving lights you can use them as really thick washers which will make them sit down farther and reduce the amount of bolt that sticks out. It will also allow greater adjustability.

If anyone else is planning on buying one of these, I forgot to mention to everyone (including the DOC) that you should leave every bolt loose until you get the top 2 supports that mount under the hood bolted to the grille guard. This will help immensely in lining everything up perfectly. The next bolts that should be tightened are the ones that are on the brackets that attach to the frame underneath and finally the 6 bolts that that attach the brackets to the grille guard.

Great job!!

Man that is just freaky that is exactly what I did. Found some extra lock nuts same thread pattern plus two extra washers and boom. They dont look like that anymore that was daytime before I got the installed completely and wired up, but threw them on quick to get the pic in daylight.

Don't forget to add the grille guard to your signature.

ChrisM and/or RidgeDoc:

Could either of y'all take a photo showing the cuts made in the plastic skid guard after installation? The photos on Chris' site show the cuts, but I'd like to see how it looks once the skid guard is snapped back into position.

My G. Tech is now in transit!

Thanks,
Joe

Uh sure. But mine is not spot on perfect by any means. I took the whole thing off and thought I could cut slots in just from laterally. Not and L shape front to side like Chris. It worked, but it was work to get it to fold in half and then slide up and over the brackets from middle to outside. Its good enough for me and after looking at it you don't even see it so I probably wont trim it anymore. I'll post pics this evening if I can get them before dark.

You have to take off the whole skid guard when installing the Gtech? Can anyone scan the directions to post? Just trying to get an idea on it. Thanks
