Using stock XM tunner/antenna with aftermarket hu

I have an Alpine MP3, XM ready head unit I want to install, but don't want to have to install a seperate XM antenna and tunner. I've spen't hours searching on here if it is possible to connect the factory RTL XM tunner/antenna to an aftermarket XM ready stereo. Has anybody tried this?
