Otter68 09-29-2006, 03:45 AM All,
Would like to use this thread for home locations for the Rocky Mountain region. You know, one place to see where we're all at. Haven't seen too many on the ROC in the Denver, CO Metro area, but noticing more RLs on the road here all the time (probably due to the '06 closeouts). I might just make some "recruting pages" to put on the RLs I come across in parking lots...
Home: Littleton, CO - SW near C470 and Kipling.
Work: Denver, CO - 16th and California.
See ya 'round!
Cuchara 09-29-2006, 06:40 AM I guess some of us in Denver read more than respond to messages. But your correct, I too see a lot of Ridgelines in the metro area.
Home - Arapahoe & Holly
Work - 6th Ave & 25
Take Care!

meanmachine19 09-29-2006, 09:54 AM It would be nice to see more from the Rocky Mts posting....there's a rumor out there ;) that next year's ROC National Meet may end up in the Denver area  So if it is to be, then the Colorado group needs to be heard!!
(I hear Denver is a nice place in the summer!):p
Truckin' 09-29-2006, 09:34 PM The Rocky Mountain range is enormous. We hail from them too, but a mighty long way from Denver.
MontanaFred 10-27-2006, 05:40 AM I hope all you ROC members in Colorado are doing OK in this recent snow storm. Good thing the Ridgeline comes standard with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Traction Control.
DENVER (AP) 10/27/2006 — The biggest October snowstorm to hit Colorado in several years dumped more than 2 feet Thursday, grounding flights, closing highways, knocking out electricity — and jump-starting the ski season.
The storm began late Wednesday and turned highways wet and slushy across the state. At one point, snow was falling at a rate of about 3 inches an hour in Denver. A 125-mile corridor from Colorado Springs to the New Mexico line was under a blizzard warning.
milehigh 10-27-2006, 11:17 AM Denver here... both work and live near downtown. I see at least two other RL's (one silver, one black) continuously near me. I drive one of the few Red Rocks in the area.

jeepwatchman 06-06-2007, 01:00 PM Bringing this thread back up to the top.
I am in Cheyenne, WY. A little bit from Denver, but close enough(100 miles). Bought my RTX in Ft. Collins, CO and usually head down that way a couple of times a month.:D
fredkerr 06-06-2007, 03:35 PM Conifer Mountain here. Retired, so I take my nimbus snowboarding, biking, and kayaking. Never spent summer in the rockies - heading out tomorrow with a full ridge and full trailer for Cooperstown, NY. Inherited a place on the lake there.
Teezer 06-06-2007, 04:20 PM Pagosa Springs, here. That's east of Durango and west of Wolf Creek Pass. :D
A bit to far south for casual trips to Denver, though.
coloradorockin 06-06-2007, 04:53 PM Colorado springs here,,Actually monument area is where I recently moved. Love to take the old ridge up in the mountians with a couple of quads and ride all day. Great truck in the snow but gotta turn off VSA when it gets deep. :p
I've only had my Ridge a week, but I have hauled my dirt bike twice,my atv twice and went sking at A-basin once.I live near 470 and Morrison and work near Federal and I-76.
manonkind 06-12-2007, 10:34 PM I was taveling through the Eisenhower Tunnel today and was being followed by a steele blue Ridge with a roof rack and bikes in the back. It looked just like mine. Was it a ROC member?
manonkind.
jeepwatchman 06-15-2007, 07:44 AM Yesterday I was standing at the visitor's center on base when a Steel blue Ridge goes by leaving the base. Looked exactly like mine except the guy driving it looked nothing like my wife!  :D
Don't know if he belongs to the ROC.
bxh0118 06-22-2007, 08:48 PM Castle Pines Here just south of Highlands Ranch:D I notice more and more RL's daily around the suburbs south of Denver. I'm haulin the dirtbikes up to Rampart Range in the near future!
RTXBOB 06-23-2007, 10:31 AM I was wondering if any of you Colorado Ridgliners have tried any of the Jeep trails around Silverton, Ouray or Teluride? I know some are too rough even for a short wheelbased jeep.
I plan on vacationing out that way soon and was wondering about some of the off pavement routes. I'm not looking to do any rock climbing, just want to get off the main roads to see some of that nice Rocky Mountain scenery. The last time I was out there on my motorcycle I saw a lot, but I think there is a whole lot more beauty hidden off road.
Any suggestions?

y33dave 12-09-2007, 08:52 AM Hey Guys! (and Gals?) ~
welcome to the ROC ! even though the RMH section of the forums is kind of quiet - this is a GREAT site!
HERE (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26) is a great place to get started if you haven't already been browsing.
Enjoy the site and the TRUCK!
Hi Folks,
Just talked to the leasing agent I'm working with, and will be picking up my Nimbus Grey RTS on Tuesday or Weds next week.
I'm in Denver (Park Hill), but we have some property just NW of Trinidad, so will be running the full I-25 corridor a dozen or so times a year.
MrsHondaGhandi 12-17-2007, 09:41 AM Hello All!!
Although the hubby & I are not owners of a Ridgeline, we service and maintain them at our shop in Arvada. We have owned MANY Hondas/Acuras over the years and are the proud owners of the fastest Element in the world (we're part of the www.elementownersclub.com as well).
Looking forward to meeting folks from this board too! Tom & JuliE are super great to work with
We're having a big open house at our new location at the end of January and we'd love to have some Ridgeliners there too. I'll keep you all posted!
Barb
Wingguy 12-25-2007, 06:36 AM Barb,
Send me a pm when you have finals on the open house. I would like to attend if it fits into my travel schedule.
Six Rails 12-25-2007, 06:59 AM Otter68 posted this thread in 06 he said he was going to make recruiting pages, funny thing is I started a thread this morning asking if that was alright to do. So...............................is it ? I think the answer should come from TMac I guess.
ROC on Kevin :)
Denver.State.O.Mind 12-29-2007, 03:25 PM Benny here with my RIDGE still in the works.
I live in A-TOWN (aurora) and am still growing accustomed to this site. It's a great site with good intentions. Very likeable!!
I live by the new SOUTHLANDS mall and work not too far from that.
Just a little question, what's the meets all about??
BruceRTL 07-28-2008, 07:18 AM Any Ridgeliners in the Silverton, Ouray, Telluride area? My wife and I will be doing a mini 5 day vacation in those towns starting on Labor Day weekend. I would love to hear from you and find out about any must see spots, good restraints, or good bars! :D
In Silverton, we plan on doing a hike up to Ice Lake (12,257'), one of our favorite hikes but really have no other plans - we're just going to wing it. We do have motel reservations at each location, was planning on camping, but with it being Labor Day weekend opted for the motels.
Thanks in advance! :)
Wingguy 07-28-2008, 08:13 AM I spend quite a bit of time on the "Western Slope." However, there are so many different tastes and varieties that I hesitate to make recommendations. There are several "guides" that are free once you get to the area. Look for the free magazines that include the Four Corners area. They are very descriptive and accurate.
If you get interested in the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway (DSNRS) trip, do the one way with a bus return trip to Durango. It is a beautiful trip, but redundant, hot and seemingly slow on the way back to Durango in the afternoon.
There is a great ice cream/sandwhich shop which I frequent on the northeast end of main street in Ouray. It looks like a dive, but the food is great for my taste. It is about two blocks from the end of main street, I can't remember the name.
I returned to the "Front Range" (Colorado Springs area) from Durango yesterday. 24.5 MPG doing the speed limits with 3 adults, 1 child and the bed filled with luggage, 22K on the truck. I am loving the vehicle.
BruceRTL 07-28-2008, 08:29 AM Excellent! Thanks Wingguy. I'll look for one of those travel guides on the drive up. We'll be staying Friday night in Cortez and I bet can find one of there. We have done the DSNRS about 15 years ago so probably won't repeat that. We actually got off the train and hiked around at Eagle Pass and even managed to fish the Animus river before flagging the train down on it's return trip. Great trip! I believe that some of the best restaurants are the "dive" looking places. If they've been there that long, they must be doing something right. We'll look for that sandwich place in Ouray. I read about a water fall that's walking distance just south of Ouray that sounded like a good photo opt. We'll probably check that out. I also read about a free tramway in Telluride. Once at the top, it had numerous trails to explore. That's our tentative plan so far.
It sounds like you had an enjoyable trip and great mileage. I'm glad everyone is safe. I only got 20mpg on a trip up to the AZ's high country this past weekend but with only 7,500 miles I don't think my ridge is broken in yet. Thanks for the information.
Wingguy 07-28-2008, 08:47 AM You are correct about the mileage. I put my Ridgy in service in January as a new vehicle. If you are getting 20 at 7500 miles, it will improve with time. My best was on this trip. My worst is my driving in Wyoming with "winter gas" where it can drop to 18 MPG going 75 MPH into the wind. It seems in Wyoming no matter which direction I am driving, I have a headwind.
I also have the Leer topper on the back. I had it installed with 180 miles on the vehicle, so I have no idea of how it affects mileage. From everything I have read, it improves mileage slightly.
Have you changed the oil yet? I will do my 3rd change today using Mobile synthetic. With the mileage minder giving us 7500-8500 between oil changes, the synthetic is an easy sell. I bought 6 filters along with 6 of the crushable washers for the pan nut from Honda, pay between $25-31 for the oil at Walmart, and the change is easy. The pan nut and oil filter are close to one another. It doesn't make sense to me to pay a shop another $20 to possibly mess it up and not replace the crushable washer:mad:.
Happy travels. The weather has been great down there. If you are planning on camping, as I do, make sure you have some weatherproofing. They have been having Tshowers every afternoon last week.

I'll 1 1/2 this (not quite a second). I recommend you take the bus up to Silverton and the train back. Reason being is that they burn a lot of fuel on the way up and very little on the way back. Depending on the direction of the wind, etc., I've seen people get off the train in Silverton black from the soot.
Taking the train from Silverton to Durango (downhill) means a lot less cinders, soot and ash. This is especially important if anyone in yoru family has any kind of breathing problem -- once you've started, there's no way to get off.

CanWeTakeTheRidgeline? 07-28-2008, 09:18 PM Another note,
If it is raining, don't lean out the window in your white tux.
The water washes the soot off the roof.
We rode up one day and back the next a few years ago.
A woman on board had a (formerly)white jacket on.
It is a beautiful ride, though. Be sure to look down into the gorge, watch for the old tracks that avalanches have carried away many years ago.
Enjoy!

I have changed once but used regular oil. I had it done at the Honda dealer where I bought my Ridge. I would prefer to camp but since it's Labor Day weekend, I reserved motels.
Thanks for the heads up. It will be a great trip.
BruceRTL 08-31-2008, 08:57 AM I made it to Silverton, CO yesterday expecting to do a fantastic hike to Ice Lake today. Unfortunately it's raining and I'm stuck in an old hotel room surfing the INTERNET. Don't worry we are going to take the ridge out in a few minutes to see if we can't find some awesome mountain / cloud photos. :D
I'm just amazed how many Ridgelines I've seen on the trip up here from Arizona. We have probably seen a dozen over the past couple of days.
Tomorrow it's off to Ouray.
Truckin' 08-31-2008, 02:55 PM Hey Bruce, I'm glad to see you have access to the internet. I just emailed you that list of scenic drives in the area I'd promised you so I hope you can access it.
Good luck on having those clouds lift. You will be treated to lots of waterfalls once the hillsides become visible. I'm expecting to see lots of photos!
Have a blast!

The clouds are still here and it's been drizzling all day. No big deal, we were not able to do our hike today but drove around the back country instead. My Ridge is SOOOOO dirty right now. I can hardly stand it! It was spotless on the drive up and I even buffed it some while in Cortez. I can't stand a dirty truck. Especially mine!
I got some great photos that I should be able to show next week. If I get bored here in Colorado (not likely), I'll send some earlier. I checked out the pdf that you sent and am looking forward to checking at least a couple of the routes out tomorrow. Of course, as mentioned in the pdf, just the drive from Silverton to Ouray is unbelievable. We'll leave early so we can make the most of it. We don't have time to do everything but I'm going to try and work that Owl Creek Pass trip in. Thanks for all of the information. I'll be sure to post pictures. :D
