Anyone have a water noise in the RH Frt W/S Pillar after a Rain?
If I make a hard stop it seems to go away.

Water Noise in RH Pillarlvidra2 10-05-2006, 11:37 AM Anyone have a water noise in the RH Frt W/S Pillar after a Rain? If I make a hard stop it seems to go away. MikeT 10-05-2006, 11:42 AM Nothing here with my truck. Try searching on Water Leak and you will find information on TSB's and such. Good luckk. lvidra2 10-05-2006, 11:50 AM There is no water getting into the cab, but when you are driving down the road you can hear it splashing. I pulled the cover on the cowl and all the drains are open and clean. Thanks for your input. Hawk 10-05-2006, 12:15 PM I've heard it only once. A gurgling sound. It was a cool morning, right after a long rainy night. My driving speed was around 50mph. My service department said not to worry, unless I hear it all the time. The design of the moonroof (you do have one, correct?) is that it is expected to leak somewhat. That water is collected and channeled down through the pillars. A WHOLE lot better than the 70's when the water was collected and channeled to the interior seats. :D sage06rts 10-05-2006, 12:55 PM I have it. I heard it this morning actually. i accellerated and turned left and my passenger side window was drenched. it sounded like a car wash. i thaught it was trapped in the cowl under the windshield (where the wipers are) i have no cabin leaks so i guess i'll ignore it until it becomes an issue. SaGE scottIN 10-05-2006, 01:19 PM I've got it too, both sides, but no interior leaks (and no roof rack either). Mainly when I make a turn or it's very windy. Webwader 10-05-2006, 01:20 PM I hear it just about every time it rains, which happens frequently here. It quits after I stop so I have come to the conclusion that it is water that is trapped by a vacuum at the base of the windshield created by the airflow. I have never had a water leak and the drains work very well. To check them, run water on the base of the windshield. They drain on the backside of the mudflaps. lvidra2 10-06-2006, 08:49 AM Ok Thanks All, I get the noise after the lightest rain and even heavy dew, but atleast I not alone. I refuse to believe that the moon roof seal lets that much water in. Hawk 10-06-2006, 10:22 AM I refuse to believe that the moon roof seal lets that much water in. Over time, it may.........:) lvidra2 11-06-2006, 09:03 AM I got rid of the water noise.!! It seems that the water gets traped where the windshield molding meets the pillar. I took a long 1/8" nylon wire tie and slid it down through the gap where the molding turns at the top of the winshieldand. somewhere on the way down I cleared an abstruction. It has rained several time since I did this and the noise has not returned. I also found that some heavy gauge weed trimmer line will also fit the gap. I never found what was stuck in the gap but I did notice that Honda has some foam tape on the molding and maybe it moved during instalation and blocked the drain, any way its fixed. BillB 11-06-2006, 10:14 AM I did notice that Honda has some foam tape on the molding That foam was one of the repair remedies recommended by Honda in TSB for Windshield noise. lvidra2 12-18-2006, 08:29 AM Well the foam that I thought was blocking the water from getting out is back. So I guess I did not fix it. Took it to the dealer and they said they could not duplicate the noise. Also had TSB done on drain for RH Pillar and carpert replaced due to being completely soaked. UglyTruckling 12-18-2006, 12:21 PM I have this noise, too, but have never had any leaks (knock on virtual wood). I hear it with varying degrees of moisture -- from downpours to heavy dew -- but not all the time. But I also had the A pillar TSB done without waiting for a leak -- as soon as they issued the TSB, I asked my friendly dealer if he could do the fix without evidence of a leak, and he agreed it would be a good preventative measure. | |
