Check this out!!

http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=ridg_ggrilleguard

He is selling the same G.Tech grille guard that a half a dozen of us already have. I still maintain it is a great product for a great price from a seller that everyone knows. The shipping may be a little easier on you west coast folks as well as he is in Cali.

He used my picture with my permission. I always wanted to see my name up in lights in some fashion. Now I have finally realized that dream.

man i love that grill.. how strong is it?? It bolts up to the frame right? i have had two cars backed into by old ladies and do you think this would stop say a 5mph crash/

i would consider the grill guard as being very sturdy. Will it survive a 5 mph collision unscathed? That is a very good question. It all depends on what the other person was driving. I would say if it was something like a Ford Focus that you would come out with little to no damage. If it was an F-150, you might not be so fortune. In either case, I'm sure that the other vehicle would definitely look worse than the RL. I'll mention that it is strong enough to push another vehicle on flat ground without damage. I have already pushed someones car down the street after it died with the brush guard.

OK, Really like the look, seriously thinking of getting one.

But  I have a dumb question. I read that ChrisM did his research, did that include as to whether the Grill effects in any way the crumple zones built in by Honda ?

I bought this truck with due consideration for all the safety features, I would hate to add a good looking item, only to find that status has been compromised.

:o Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere and I missed it.

Since it bolts directly to the frame and is forward of the 5mph bumper, it has to affect the crash dynamics of the RL to some extent.

 ...but I am worried about whether the airbags will be able to inflate if this grill bypasses the bumper on impact and sends the forces to the lower frame. I ate a steering wheel in my '64 VW once and it wasn't fun. The Ridge might be more fun because the steering wheel is rubber (on my RTS) but I don't want to push my luck.

Given the clearance between the G.Tech brush guard & the lower part of the bumper (approximately 1/2") & the fact that the upper brackets aren't heavy metal pieces, I don't expect the brush guard would have a significant negative effect on airbag deployment.

However, if you put one of these things on your truck, smack a semi haulin' hogs & eat the steering wheel, it ain't my fault! I figure the odds of the brush guard keeping me from having a WalMart shopping cart clobber my headlights, grille, etc., are greater than the odds of running into a semi haulin' hogs...
