Hey all,
the "Black Pearl" goes in for a full buff and polish tomorrow. The previous owner (mines a 10 month old CPO) didn't know squat about paint care and swirled the crap out of it with a buffer of some kind leaving obvious swirls in the sun. The gentlemen at The Polished Image here in Salt Lake say they can make it look new again with their 3 step process. So, about $170.00 and six hours later I hope to pick up a glossy, shiny, radiant, glowing, and blinding Nighthawk Black RL. I'll post some glamour shots after the buff. :D

Best of luck with that. Clearcoats are pretty forgiving so someone with the right products, tools and technique should be able to restore a nearly new lustre to your paint.

Let me know how it turns out. My black has some swirls. I spent the entire day last Saturday doing 3 coats of polish. First, I used an agressive polish and medium cut pad. Next, fine polish with fine pad and finally a protection layer with polishing pad. It helped but it didn't completely remove the swirls.

I also had some light scratches on the rear lid that I tried to rid with some compound. The scratch disappeared and all was well until one night my son was following behind me and told me later that he saw a hazy cloud on my tailgate.
Two coats of light polish removed the haze successfully. Yup, black is unforgiving in every way but when she's detailed and waxed...look out!!
