ONDLINKS, Figured Pizza Man made it all happen the least we can do is get the pics going. Hope all made it home safe. Good pics of the Mini Meet within the Mid-Atlantic Meet at Harpoon Henry's, or was it DA'ROC's (Drinkers Anonymous of the ROC).

I count nine trucks making it to Henry's. Pretty good considering we where just hanging out before driving to dinner.

Wow, nice pictures but who is who? Looks like the Quick Silvers ran that meet! :D I noticed most had on jackets, was it cool there?

Yeah Tony there were 5 Silvers there, then 4 Blues, 4 Blacks, 1 Green, 1 Red, and 1 White.

It was pretty cool outside, but then again it's October in the Mid-Atlantic states. The high on Saturday was maybe 60, but the 15-20 mph breeze made it cooler than that.

Hello Everybody:

I had a blast and made a lot of new friends. Since I live around the Rhode Island MAFIA, it was nice to meet the New York MOB. They know who they are.

Look forward for the next meet and I will look into something for Rhode Island. If Rhode Island is what some want, we should probably plan for May. Throw your ideas at me. Maybe we can get the New England crowd to put in their input. I need Pizza Man the event planner to get on the internet and be my research assistant. Don't know what his new project is going to be. He will be bored without planning an event.

Pizza Man did an outstanding job with the event. The Mid-Atlantic hospitality was excellent. We had Joe's famous meatballs with gravy and a brown paper bag of bulky rolls.

More pictures to follow.

I woke up Sunday morning and went out the my baby and YES there was cracked. My luck. About 6 inch crack.

Pizza Man: Sorry to hear about what you had to do today. It would be very hard for me if it was one of my two babies. They go every where I go. If I was a dog I would want to be treated the way I treat my pets.

Excellent meatballs and bulky rolls. Next time we meet you will provide pizza. (Joking) Mrs. Pizza Man kept you occupied so we will make you a member of the DA'Roc's.

You by far exceeded my expectations of how the meet was going to go. If we do a RI meet, you will be on the steering committe.

DBB was that you that flew past me on the Garden State Parkway at the last exit before you go into NY. I was pulling the trailer and saw a blue with a ROC decal go by me.

As far as jeperdy, how can you cheat. Not enough time for jgal to look up answers. Just remember, young guys have sharp minds.

Thanks for the condolences everyone. It's truly a sad thing to do, but it needed to be done. It reached a point where we were doing things to the dog instead of for the dog. My daughter is very upset, she's had "Ronnie" for 13 years, which is pretty old for a Cocker I understand. My daughter couldn't bring herself to bring Ronnie into the examination room for the final procedure so I did it for her. Not my pet and I still got a little misty holding her while the vet administered the drug.

Anyway, I stitched 5 photos for this next shot. I hope it shows up OK.

I hope no one minds, but I would like to put into writing my feelings about our Meet this weekend.

Organizing the Meet and participating in it was totally out of character for me. I’m generally a quiet sort perhaps somewhat shy. All through the planning stages Jeanette kept asking, “What’s gotten into you”? It’s hard for me to explain, but organizing these kinds of get togethers is something I’ve done only for family. It’s probably safe to say that over the course of the last few months I’ve grown close to a lot of you and I felt that getting involved would be a way to repay you for your friendship, camaraderie and acceptance. I think the initial start of the planning began in June. ONDLINKS’ wife reminded me of this Friday night. The planning activity became more involved as the weeks progressed. At no time did it ever become a “pain in the a$$”. It was fun actually. I received a lot of help from all of you not to mention encouragement.

It’s a funny thing, but once I met each of you I was amazed how much you all matched my online impressions of you. I suppose we all let our true colors show no matter what media we converse. Every one of you are people that I could carry on a personal relationship easily. I was happy to meet you all and you all made me feel you were as happy to meet Jeanette and I. I found it very comfortable to be around all of you.

For Jeanette and I the Meet began early Friday afternoon when jgal and his fiancée stopped by my house on their way to the Cape. We chatted for a bit then hit the road. Justin, I hope my driving wasn’t to slow for you! We stopped on the way to catch up with cwsatterlee and his “babies” at his campsite. Carl, you don’t have a shy bone in your body! You’re good fun.

Once we got to the Avondale, the first voice I hear shouts down to us, “Are you with the ROC”? Shorty and Boo, it was certainly a pleasure to meet you both. I wish I could have spent more time to get to know you guys better. From then thing began to get hectic. I put on the meatballs to heat up and we started to gather in my room. ONDLINKS and Marge, FirstShirt and Sonji, Britimes2 her son and husband and dbb and Kathy came in and the introductions were going on fast and furious. I could barely keep up. Mdwalls arrived very late Friday. We didn’t catch up until Saturday morning. That night we had 7 rooms occupied at the Avondale, plus cw at the campsite and ONDLINKS staying with friends in a private residence. There were 9 trucks at our little Mini-Meet.

Then came the infamous Pizza joint. What crap! If I had it to do all over again I’d have cooked dinner for everyone in my room. That being said I still had a great time.

MORE TO COME IN ANOTHER POST

First and Foremost - THANK YOU PIZZA MAN! The meet was great and Pizza Man really did an outstanding job. Both the wife and I had a great time. The weather was great, the food was outstanding, and the conversations were fantastic. (except for maybe when Boo had to tell us about barfing while we were eating dinner)

Now, I need to set the record straight here. Yes, it was I who suggested pizza on Friday night. Pizza Man picked out a restaurant and we all went for dinner. We (me, Sunjoo, Shorty and Boo) ended up sitting at a separate table from everyone else. When I looked at the menu I only saw four different pizzas and no choice of additional toppings. So when the waitress came I asked what would be better, a pizza or sandwich? She replied sandwich. So I went with the sandwich. After all - anyone could tell by looking at the menu that this was not a pizza place and it was going to be microwaved frozen pizza - right???

Wrong - who would have guessed that someone with the handle of PIZZA MAN would order microwave pizza??? And of course some of those New Yorkers followed suit. (that's what New Yorkers do ;) besides cheating at Jeopardy) But everyone at the small table had a great dinner, super conversation, and even paid the bill of $187.00. (did someone say $187.00?) Thanks for paying the $187.00 Boo, we all appreciated you taking care of the $187.00.

We did take a few pictures, and in an effort to save bandwidth on the website I am posting a link. This also provides you a great way to download if you see a picture you really like.

Once again, Thanks to Pizza Man. Now, can someone start one of those polls? (I’m technically challenged). I would like a poll so we can vote for Pizza Man as the permanent HGIC (Head Guy In Charge) of all future MidAtlantic Meets!

It was great to meet all of you. Please stay in touch and enjoy the pictures http://firstshirt.smugmug.com/gallery/2042657

ps - Pizza Man - don't try and coin me - I've got one too. :D

Now, can someone start one of those polls? (I’m technically challenged). I would like a poll so we can vote for Pizza Man as the permanent HGIC (Head Guy In Charge) of all future MidAtlantic Meets!
Jeanette votes NO!

Jeanette votes NO!

Well, since she was so charming and obviously put up with you during all this ;) , we will give her a vote. But Sunjoo votes yes so that cancels her no out. Sorry about that . . . :D

Now if you vote no and I vote yes, were still at ground zero. But looking at all the other threads, well, I think you should just start planning now. On second thought, give yourself a break and start the planning next week.

I'm swamped with work at the moment but I do want to thank Joe again for all his hard work before too much time goes by :) It was a great meet, perfect weather, fun people, lots of Ridgelines with a variety of accessories :D I'll post pics when I get a chance (probably over the weekend).

CONTINUED FROM POST #76

FirstShirt will tell you how he outsmarted everyone and decided not to go with the Pizza and opted for a sandwich. Truth of the matter is our table never even looked at the menu. We just decided to go with a variety of Pizzas. In my case, I had a few glasses of wine before we left for the Sports Bar. I was in no condition to read a menu. Gotta admit, though, I don’t think I looked tipsy. After a few glasses of beer on top of the wine, who cared? All I know is that I would like to have that night back to rework. I think I would definitely do that differently. It would have been so easy to bring a large crock-pot full of meatballs and gravy and a bag of Italian rolls and feed everyone and never leave the motel.

The next day we got together for a Pre-Meet Car Wash. I have to admit, looking in the sideview mirrors and seeing all the Ridgelines behind me was a thrill. The car wash was a bit scary. I’ve never been through a car wash like that. The truck stood still while the wash mechanism went back and forth. I got a little motion sickness and claustrophobic at the same time.

At 11:00 we all gathered at the Lighthouse. The day was beautiful, with clear blue skies and plenty of parking. The location was right off the beach and some walked the beach. Britimes2 mentioned seeing dolphins close in to the beach. This is a common sight in Cape May. I’m sure her son, Erik, was impressed. Britimes2 has a lovely family. A real joy to be with. The Meet lasted about two hours. This gave CuinaRidge and Eagles enough time to catch up with the rest of us. Seems CU and Eagles were using CU’s clock and forgot he started out in a different time zone. It was terrific to meet him and his wife Liz. I still can’t get over he came in from Wisconsin. The meet had a bit of press coverage, hopefully the will be pictures posted on their web site, capemay.com. There was also plenty of give aways. T-shirts, and coffee mugs and hats. Alsridge was kind enough to make tire jack platforms for us and they were appreciated by all of us.

After the Meet there was about three hours of “free-time” before dinner. I think this was great because it gave all of us time to do whatever we wanted in the Cape May area. For example, Britimes2 went to the zoo. Jeanette and I went to a Pumpkin Festival where we met up with FirstShirt and his wife Sonji. Others went to Harpoon Henry’s, a local watering hole, and followed that up with a trip to a local winery.

Next, was dinner. We had a section of the parking lot reserved for us. The sight of 15 Ridgelines parked together was awesome. Mdwalls was the first to arrive. He approached our parking area and was told by one of the kids serving as a parking attendant he couldn’t park in the roped off area as there was going to be a “Hot Rod” show. Never thought of the Ridgeline as a Hot Rod. Dinner was pretty good if I say so myself. Considering the Cape May location the price was reasonable and included tax and gratuity. Drinks were a bit expensive, though. Throughout dinner we raffled off a few prizes donated by our Sponsors. There were five $30 gift certificates donated by RealTruck.com, three $15 gift certificates from Burtman Industries, a $50 certificate from Murdock Industries to be used toward a bed mat, HandA sent many of the gifts distributed at the Lighthouse as well as remote controlled little Ridgelines and a Cargo Net won by Snakepython. Eaglesno1 came with a gift bag from his dealership that contained a hat, T-shirt, a really nice Key Ring as well as a tote bag, all with Honda Logos. Britimes2 won this. Eagles also supplied a Stainless Steel and Ceramic Coffee Mug. It had to worth more than a few bucks. This was won by 63Tbird. A big thank you to Eagles for the gifts. There were also two gift certificates donated by Willis Honda of Burlington, NJ. Each for $250. dbb and EaglesNo1 were the lucky winners.

A special thanks must go to dbb for his presentation of the ROC Jeopardy Game. I can’t begin to tell you how much fun it was. He put a lot of work into the refinement of the game and did an excellent job of hosting it.

Again Joe, Awesome job with this Mid-Atlantic meet & greets. Lots & lots of work go into the logistical planning and execution of a successful get together. It appears you’ve pulled this one out of your hat on the very first try! Congrats and a very special thank you to your lovely wife for putting up with all of us ROC-Heads~~

PizzaMan - your really making a statement here that this must have been the worlds worst pizza. I mean, looking at your words above one would think that it would not have mattered how the pizza tasted. ;)

And as far as outsmarting anyone . . . That will probably be the first and last time anyone accuses me of that. We at our small but humble table had no idea that all of you had ordered pizza. But, we did look at the menu. :D

I agree that we probably would have had a great time eating your meatballs and staying in the hotel. But you had done so much work already, there is no way we could have allowed you to do even more. Thanks again for a great meet. You should feel very proud of the results - and that's why I said what I did at dinner. Anytime your down this way you have a place to stay - no questions asked. (I lied, I do have a questionaire for all guest to fill out. You know "Will you be travelling with any Giraffe's?" and "Do you currently have any infectious diseases?" That sort of thing)

Your friends - Bob & Sunjoo

CONTINUED FROM POST #86

On a personal note, FirstShirt totally overwhelmed me with a speech referencing my work on the meet. Not being one to be fussed over I was somewhat embarrassed. He then told everyone of a tradition of putting coins on a bar and he who puts up the lowest denomination buys a round of drinks. He then presented me with a gold coin bearing the seal of the President of the United States, which outranks all other coins. I will from here on out drink free. FirstShirt, I thank you. Jeanette and I enjoyed the company of you and your wife. I hope to see you again soon.

This has been a totally rewarding experience for me. Everyone I met, and I met all of you, are the best. I instantly felt comfortable around you. My wife, Jeanette, who was extremely apprehensive about the whole Meet idea had a great time. Just look at the last photo (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=147440&postcount=23) posted by cwsatterlee. She was having a ball. We will continue to be a part of future Meets and hope someday to outdo CU and Liz with a cross-country trip of our own. A big thank you and hug to all.

OK, I just took a very long lunch so that I could read all 90 posts and I know what has to be done.

DO OVER!

How about this weekend?

Wow! Did I ever miss a great time! Joe, this was over the top! Very, very nicely done! I am so sorry to have missed it. As I mentioned earlier, my wife was in Florida for most of the week for a very long and intense conference. She didn't arrive home until just before midnight on Friday. As exhausted as she was we just couldn't travel that weekend. So how about this weekend? Huh? Huh? With the amazing amount of work and planning that Pizza Man put into this event, we could just do it again, right?

Just kidding of course. I do wish that I had been able to make it. I at least had the opportunity, the pleasure, and the honor of meeting Joe and Jeanette a few weeks ago when I was traveling to Philly on business. I guess that I will just have to wait to meet everyone else until Joe recovers from this meet and does it again!:D

Joe, sorry to hear of your recent difficult times. Having recently gone through the same thing, I can appreciate just how hard it is. The only thing that I can offer is that with time it will get better. Remembering the good times helps to speed up the process somewhat. My thoughts are with you and your family.

And Joe, what you put together last weekend in Cape May matters. Your generous contributions to the ROC every day makes the ROC a better place and all of the members of this virtual ROC family benefit from having you as a member. My hat is off to you sir!:)

Wow - I take a night off from reading the BB and there's two new pages of post in this thread! That just shows the spirit of the folks that post here.

Since my efforts to elect Joe the HGIC of future MidAtlantic Meets seems to have been successful, I will hereby relinquish my duties as Campaign Chairman and take on the duties of Chief of Staff. JOE - you let me know what I can do to help with the next meet and I'm your man! As long as my boss doesn't have other plans for me :( . I thought the hotel was fine - they just don't want any "groups" of any kind doing anything. Good for quite weekends with the SO, but maybe not so good for group functions. It's kind of a tradeoff.

And here's a thought - maybe all of us could go down to our local dealers (when the time comes) and see about getting some kind of sponsorship. I would have no problem going into a dealership down here and telling them there's a big meet and they'd better get on board or lose out to someone else. What's the worst that could happen - they say get out of their showroom??? (no problem, I already have my Ridge) :)

Joe - I know your a humble kind of guy and you've told us to stop thanking you - but the bottom line is you did a great job and the rest of us sat back and enjoyed it. Now we take five minutes and say Thank You? We still owe you and maybe next time we can do a little to help.

ie. If your making the meatballs, maybe some of us can bring the side dishes. We could call it the MidAtlantic ROCers PizzaMan Potluck, or MAROCPMP. :D

To my WestCoast AZ ROCers - wish I could have been there but I was having a great time out here. Maybe next time I can come out, make the meet and check on my house. Can you said Road Trip?

Upon further review, it seemed like the trucks played second fiddle, with having to compete with the great people, weather and scenery. I did get a little time to look over a few that were parked near me at the beach and came away with these observation's, FirstShirt's Special Edition is just what it is, Special. Shorty's black RL has some fine hardware installed, I remember saying, hey Shorty, did you put all that stuff on? Her reply, Hell no, I pay the dealer to do that!

Next up, 63Tbird, what a great color scheme inside and out, I also liked his tire/wheel setup. Now Double-T had some bling, great lookin' chrome accents, pin strips and many add-on's. Don't think He's done yet either.

CW probably has the most unique way of repairing dings, just throw a bullet hole decal on it, can't argue with that logic and with the Leer cap, I gotta say it looks cool!! Eaglesno1 with LadyRidge Eagles decals, very nice (although the team stinks)

It was great to see so many RL's together and the many different ways people chose to make the truck their own!!!:)

Go to http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/ , scroll down till you see
"Ridgeline Clubs and Gatherings" Then listed under that is "Mid-Atlantic Ridgeline Owners " New Jersey is not listed.

You are certainly correct in that NJ is a Mid-Atlantic State. Just thought it would be nice to have it in the title with all the other states mentioned. No big deal. I'll just suck it up and take it like a man :(. You know we Roc'ers in NJ got to stand up for ourselves.

Ondlinks,

Did not mean to stir the pot. Just making conversation. Did not realize at the time New Jersey was listed in the 'Northeast" Section. But your idea is excellent since I think most people (IMO) consider South Jersey more aligned with Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C. and West Virginia. But hey I'll drive anywhere for a meet if I can make it.

Anyway sounds great to add South Jersey to Mid-Atlantic but no need to do it because of me.

Respectfully,
