Anyone mounted the're amp behind the seat> I saw a sort of hollowed spot back there that may be where the subwoofer is normally and was thinking of mounting a smaller amp for the front spekers back there since it would not need as much ventilation. Is the consensus that this is a no no, or is it pretty safe?

I'd keep as low to the floor as possible. There is more space for air to circulate down there. (that last sentence sounds a bit weird...the weekend must be close)

Many here have amps mounted behind the rear seat. I have to Alpine amps behind the seat. One is in the factory sub location; the other is behind the driver's side. The mounting surface is not flat so you may want to mount the amp to a board. I agree that you want to mount them low where there is more depth and air space for cooling. My amps are a 4x55 and 4x45 and they have no problems at all.

Did you screw them down into the metal, or use some other method?

Search for my posts and you will find one with some pictures of my install. I mounted the amps to 1/2 plywood, then screwed the plywood into the back wall with long sheet metal screws and nylon spacers.

Thanks for the suggestions. My wife is gettign nervous about getting her truck back so I will have to dismantle it again when she goes out of town for business in a few months. Thanks for the advice now and I am glad someone else has already tried it. ROC Rocks!
I have two amps mounted behind my seat, one a Rockford Fosgate amp rated at about 2000 W RMS, and a Planet Audio amp rated at 75 W RMS x 4. No problems at all in over a year.

I also have two amps and a processor mounted on the back wall (not to be outdone).
Audison LRX 6
Audison LRX 2.250
Alpine F#1 Status Processor
Plus, barrier strips and various distribution blocks
I also have an iPod adapter and a few other components installed including a fairly large fuse block in the area between the wall and seat, along the floor.
There's quite a bit of space in there, actually. You can see for yourself if you remove the plastic pieces (covers) under the rear seats. Place your hand in there and feel the amount of space.

That's funny. Almost no one here, and certainly not me, has outdone what mugen1 has done with audio/video in his RL! Is it djdj that's close?

Thanks for the kind words, Hofffam.
Cool ting is, if someone put together the best ideas of all of our installs, they would have one helluva setup.
What I like about this forum is that most of the people here are not afraid to do the work themselves. The creativity here is wonderful. Not just with car audio, but with accessories and other mods.
