I was driving home this afternoon and saw a yellow Toyota FJ convertible. It was pretty much the same, except had a black canvas top. It looked like it lost a bit of headroom as the top was not as high as the original roof line and the back was not as rounded.

I think that is part of living in So Cal. we see a lot of custom cars.

Be lucky you saw it. There are only a couple of those around. They are all custom. I read somewhere that they charge 10 large to chop the top. I have never seen one except in a picture.

Hi Fred,

Did the roadster version look good to you too? We saw this Pickup version of the FJ at SEMA. You could put a small ice chest in the back but not much more! Kinda kewl looking in a way and a vast improvement in the original's blind spot.

the top was up, but looks like the pillars might have been in similar locations, but I think the top was going all the way to the front of the cab at the windsheild, but can't be sure as I was going the opposite way. The soft top definitely went all the way to the back gate though.Got a good enough look because it was sitting still waiting to turn left. I didn't look it that much, but often feel that way about odd styling, then fall in love with the looks later. Hence the RL

That pickup is a good looking truck.

Looks good but man I thought the Ridgeline's bed was small.

How could you fit a tree stands, deer, decoys, hockey equipment, freezer ... in the back?

Here are the pictures I saw. Notice the difference between this one and the one at SEMA? No C pillar when the top is down and nowhere to put anything in the back unless it is under the top when folded. With the top up, it has the worlds largest C pillar.

Just glanced at my latest Consumer Reports and they were seriously down on the FJ

I looked at the FJ and the back seat looked very tight, no knee room, and that is if you could get in it even. For it's size you would think it would be roomier, like the original fj that it tries to mimic.
